UCLA Fall '20 Transfer Waitlist Thread

Hey guys! I am asking for a friend who has been waitlisted and has already opted-in and reported his grades. Is it too late for him to submit the LOCI in the comments section? Or he can add it to his application even after opting in and reporting grades?

You have until May 15 to edit/add information, so he should be fine still.

will dropping a major prep class significantly affect our waitlist admissions decision?? for example what if we drop if but decide to retake during the summer

@svoxut Just a guess but I’m saying yes.

I have a concern, I won’t know my final grades until after May 15th, which is inconvenient given we need to submit grades
 should I call admissions?

i am in the same situation. i am listing my current classes as “In Progress” but then i am also including “Current Grade: __”

@uclagal2020 If you are referring to reporting spring grades on the form, all that is required is IP (in progress). There is a hyperlink on the form labeled “view example” that shows a template for how you should be reporting your grades.

what if you’re taking classes pass/fail? do you think that’ll impact whether you get off the waitlist or not?

My spring quarter also doesn’t end until after May 15. I too am wondering whether I should just put “Grade = IP” or if I can also add what my “current grades” in the classes are?

Major: Political Science

GPA: 3.34

Major Prep Complete: All complete with A’s

Extracurricular(s): Extensive community service within politics, various political campaigns volunteering and employment, and work 25 hrs. a week at Starbucks

TAP: No

Opt-in/Opt-out: Opt-In

Reasons you may have been waitlisted: Low GPA

First Generation Student: No

Additional Info: Extreme family circumstances included in my essays

Questions: Who is going to get off of this waitlist so I can get in? hehehe

Update: I called admissions and they said we can simply put “IP” for spring grades, they know we won’t have official grades until late May. If we do get off the waitlist, they’ll request transcripts. IDK why but I assumed they would want our official grades. Anyways WE’RE GOOD GUYS

Do you guys know if I can change a class that I am taking this semester to pass/ no pass? Not my major class, just a history class.

It’ll probably be fine but ask admissions just in case maybe?

they are taking P/NP for courses, including major prep courses. I spoke to an admin rep about it and also contacted the department but only for Spring 2020, they have not made the decision for summer classes yet.

So I can do a p/np for one of my major classes? Ugh that makes me feel better. This semester and the switch to online learning has been a nightmare

So we add our fall grades of last year too?

Yes!

Guys
this might just be the best year to be on the wait list! I mean, if college enrollment is estimated to be down up to 20%? We may be in LUCK! AHHHH I just want the 15th to pass already so I can start obsessively refreshing my email

@socalshehulk hopefully we all get in!! btw what do you mean by the 15th? this month or next month?

Do spots open up for transfer students on the waitlist if transfer admits in a particular major decide to not enroll or if both freshman and transfer admits in a particular major decide to not roll? What are the chances? In other words, if freshman admits decide to not enroll, does that mean those spots will be open for transfers on the waitlist?
