Best of luck to all.
@munchenca I emailed my counselor a week ago with a similar question and she explained to me that the waitlist admissions process for high school and college students are separate from one another.
Iām excited. I have a feeling that weāll be hearing back sooner than we think.
Iām so anxious because my major is extremely capped so I donāt want to get my hopes up I just wish UCLA would increase the number of nursing major transfers they accept to 15 from 10 if they could increase the number of freshmen they accept by 10 sigh
I read the thread last year and many of them got off the waitlist from late June to like mid-July. I feel like itās way too long. I canātā¦
Major: Business Economics
GPA: 4.0, should stay a 4.0 after this semester too
Major Prep Complete: Managerial IP
Extracurricular(s): Own and operate a medical supply store, founded a publishing business in HS that was acquired, part-time financial analyst at a boutique IB, CC debate team, part of a leadership forum run by the Campus President, volunteering
TAP: Yes, and IGETC completed by end of Spring term
Opt-in/Opt-out: In
Reasons you may have been waitlisted: No clue
First Generation Student: No
Any ideas as to why I was waitlisted? My schoolās counselors in charge of our Honors/TAP program were pretty surprised since they made it seem almost guaranteed, especially if you meet all requirements like I have. Our CC also has a close relationship with UCLA and 89% of our TAP students are admitted.
Really bummed about this and still having trouble getting over it since Iām sure the chances of admission off the waitlist are low for impacted majors.
Well technically itās after June 1st, but I know in the past a few times they began notifications around the 20th on. So there are no promises, but if they are ahead of schedule a few might come out early. Fingers crossed!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Dude you just saved my GPA from changing thank youuuuu
Hey guys, Iām currently on the waitlist too and was wondering if any of you received EXCUSED WITHDRAWLS this semester due to the pandemic? The California Community College Board of Directors set out an executive order stating that any student could effectively drop a class for any reason with an EW, which would NOT count against any academic progress requirements. My community college counselor told me that since this notation is so new, the UC system has no such symbol or notation for an EW in the application website and TAU (transfer academic update). Basically, she told me that the UC ās would update their information accordingly if any discrepancies were to be found in this semesterās grades when reviewing the original application prior to COVID-19. She also stated that this is what they meant by the EW having no negative effect on your academic progress requirements. Essentially, having an IP course originally listed on the TAU and getting an EW for Spring 2020 shouldnāt be grounds for getting rescinded based off the current global pandemic.
I wonder how many Pre-Business Econ major applicants are admitted off of the waitlist! Iām becoming more nervous each day
Hi I am also wondering how many transfer applicants are OOS and international I believe that will affect the yield rate.
We can make an estimate based off of last years numbers. Over 800 admits total, (49 OOS and 774 internationals of which 24 OOS and 496 internationals enrolled). These numbers will be significantly different because of the current situation.
@sebptastic I was wondering where you were able to find these statistics and if they may have pertained to the incoming freshman class? I have been able to find a lot of data online regarding their population and very little on transfer classes.
Hi, I found this information on the UCLA Admitted Transfer student profiles for 2019! Very useful. I also have the transfer waitlist admit rate for 2019 as well if anyone is interested.
@sebptastic Oh yes, I forgot about that page lol. I never thought about scrolling to the bottom to look at the comparisons across oos, is, and international studentsā enroll rates. Could you please share the waitlist admit rate data or link?
Iād Love to see this!
I received an Excused Withdrawal for a Yoga class this semester and mentioned why in my Letter Of Continued Interest. Do you guys think that is okay? Now Iām freaking out.
This is crazy to me because Iāve been preparing for a UCLA decision for so long. It would either be an acceptance or a rejection. I just never considered the possibility of being waitlisted. I thought that by May, I would already know where I wanted to go and be set on it. Now it feels like Iām in limbo. On top of that, no one knows how long weāre gonna be strung along for. Some students get their decision in late May, others in August. UCLA is my dream school so this really sucks.
Hey, I think youāll be fine if you already put it on your LOCI/Additional Comments section. An EW is basically equivalent to never taking the course in the first place. Some colleges put it in our final transcripts, some donāt. Regardless, it is NOT treated like a regular W. Especially considering that the one you received was in a non major class, it shouldnāt effect you at all really. Technically, the opt in is just asking for your Winter Grades and Spring SCHEDULE, not your Spring grades. So, if you were to receive any EWās prior to submitting the LOCI, you could just put what classes your currently taking. If you were to receive a W this Spring, then I would put it in the LOCI/Additional Comment section because itās a notation the UCās and other institutions use. Also, the transfer requirements have been greatly reduced this semester due to the pandemic. Basically, as long as you complete the minimum 60 units needed for transfer, you wouldnāt be penalized for dropping non-major courses for an EW. This is the EXACT reason why they state that it wonāt effect academic progress requirements. I would still email a counselor just to be on the safe side, but regardless, I think youāll be completely fine. Good luck!
I forgot to add one more thing, if your transfer academic update had the course you received an EW in as planned or IP, then you should list it on the Spring semester schedule. Otherwise, not listing it would probably raise some red flags as it wouldnāt match the info in the TAU. However, if you received an EW during the time the TAU was still open and removed that class from the TAU list, then it would probably make more sense not including it now as there would still be some discrepancies when comparing your application with the LOCI. Itās kind of complicated considering that any updates after January 31st arenāt guaranteed to be seen by the UCās. Regardless, PLEASE email a counselor to see what the best course of action to take would be.
