Hi everyone! I just got waitlisted at UCLA & pretty bummed about it. I just don’t know what went wrong. Can anyone offer any insight? I got into UCI and Berkeley, so I’m really confused :frowning:

Stats:
3.82 GPA
Major:Economics
TAP Certified
Club officer
Part time job

Congrats! This was my major but I got waitlisted.
Maybe GPA haha.
GPA 3.35

Rejected
3.7 GPA
:frowning: lol Berkeley it is.

3.9 CS major rejected. Is it worth appealing to see if I can get into my second major at least? I forgot to put I’m TAP certified on my application, but my counselor said not to worry since UCLA will know by them sending my information. I don’t see my second major on my portal. I probably should’ve asked UCLA admissions instead.

Longtime lurker of this thread and I took a year off from school. Here are my stats and essay topics.
Accepted!
Major: Business econ
GPA: 4.0
Accepted: UCLA (bus econ), UCB (econ), UCI (bus admin), UCSB (TAG, econ and accounting), SJSU (accounting)
Waitlist: none
Denied: none!

ECs: Honestly I don’t really have many ECs except for some tutoring here and there. I have a lot of retail work experience and no internships.

Essays: I’m not even kidding I wrote my essays a couple of days before they were due lmao. I was expecting to just TAG to UCSB and be okay with it. I think two of my essays might have stood out though. One essay was about being the daughter of two immigrants and that no one in my family has gone to college. I’ve been working since the age of 17 to save for school. The second essay was about what I’m doing with my year off and what my goals for the future are. I took a W for calc 2 my spring semester so I couldn’t transfer, but retook it during the summer and got an A. I basically spent my year off working two jobs (60 hours a week) and taking classes I’ve always wanted to take, like C++ and nutrition.

Extras: I have a couple of associate degrees from my community college. I’m not sure if that helped me get in, but I’m assuming it might have since I have no ECs? I have my ADT in business admin and econ. From my college, I have associate degrees in business admin, liberal arts with a language emphasis, natural science: math and tech emphasis, and one in human development. I also have a certificate in accounting.

Also, UCB emailed me a few days ago saying that I’m considered to be EOP, which I didn’t know I qualified for.

ACCEPTED for Public Affairs! I was kinda nervous since I’m a one year transfer and had heard that UCLA wouldn’t be a fan of that. Feel free to PM me with any questions about the major (because it’s pretty new) or about being a one year transfer!
Major: Public Affairs
GPA: 3.87
Major Prereqs: Finished them in the fall
ECs: AGS honors society, major-related internship, worked 25+ hours a week, volunteered at my cc’s community garden. Also added in my ec’s from high school since it had only been a year.
So glad since UCLA was my top choice. Go Bruins!

Accepted

Major: Psychobiology
TAP Certified
Extracurriculars: Honors Student Council, Hospital Internship

Honestly wasn’t expecting to get in, I’m excited and its been a dream forever but not sure yet. Scared I’ll fail lol we will see.

Hey man, Congratulations on getting accepted! I also got accepted as a Political Science Major, and I am still currently serving in the Military. It would be awesome if we can link up if once we go to UCLA. ]

Do you have any in-progess courses from your major right now & if so, how many?
Colleges have to make predictions on those Spring grades.

Are you missing any major prerequisites & don’t have them in-progress?

Also, while you’re overall GPA is important, your major GPA is very important too.

Each college is different for IGETC & I don’t know UCLA’s policy for it. But Berkeley requires you to have IGETC completed by Spring & Berkeley actually makes you sign & submit a form that your IGETC will be completed. I just don’t know UCLA’s policy on IGETC.

And that’s just the academics. There’s also the extracurriculars and essays so there are a ton of factors that make a decision.

Many have reached out to other colleges after getting rejected & they actually got specific reasons why. I don’t know if UCLA will do that but it only takes an email to admissions to find out.

Please add me!! How do you private message on here lol
