English Major
4.0
Accepted: UCI, UCD
Waitlisted: UCB

My application was super unorthodox so I was really unsure how admissions would go for me. I did my first year at CSULB but didn’t really like it there so I left. All but one of my IGETC classes came from AP’s/CSULB, but I was allowed to get an IGETC through community college because of a technicality. I knew I wanted to transfer after my first year at Long Beach and I thought I’d have a much better shot getting in if they viewed me as a cc student instead of a cal state student. It was a huge pain in the ass dealing with class credit and emailing counselors from different schools, but it is possible if there are people out there in a similar situation.

Accepted!!!
GPA:3.82
Major: Math/Econ
TAP: Yes
Prereqs: lack of 1, still taking 2
Accepted: UCLA UCSD UCSB UCI UCD
Rejected: UCB
I am soooo excited since I finally achieve my dream!!! I really love UCLA!!

If any pre-Sociology people wanna chat PM me! I’m leaning towards UCLA but I’m not 100%. Would love to talk about the program

Accepted for Business Economics!!

I have a quick question for a friend who got in for sociology. She received an acceptance, but just realized she is missing a class for IGETC. Has every other class finished and noticed that UCLA doesn’t mention anything about submitting an IGETC certification nor requiring it for letters and sciences. Is this true?

For those wondering, here are my stats!

115 units completed, 3.97 GPA, 5 associate degrees, and one certificate of accounting. Have worked as a finance and sales consultant for the past two years which I talked about in my essays!

Any response to my question to help my friend out would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I have two in-progress courses for my major. I am not missing any major prerequisites that were not in-progress.

My major GPA is a 4.0. I have my IEGTC complete. My essays were strong, I had multiple counselors and trusted adults read over them. My extracurriculars were also strong. I worked a part time job at my college, was a club officer, volunteered for causes I was passionate about. I was also in my school’s honors program and TAP certified.

Do you think if I email them I can find out what I did wrong? Do you think I would just email admissions?

Thank you so much.

Congrats on the acceptance! I believe IGETC is “strongly encouraged” for Letters & Sciences but not necessarily required. I’m a little surprised she got in without it, to be honest! I would suggest she email admissions about it and make sure it won’t affect her admission.

@Dehawydias

Under Admissions Contract > Provisions for Admission > Send Official Transcripts>

“If you are transferring from a California community college or a University of California campus and will complete IGETC or UC Reciprocity, respectively, submit your official certification by September 1, 2020.”

myHi everyone!
I got accepted to UCLA as a transfer from a 4-year university (Cal Lutheran). I’m a Biochem major and GPA 3.855. I already finished my major prep. However, I checked the admission contract, and it said that I need to have two transferable English courses by June 2020. I have finished one English course but not the second one. On the UC application, I put that I will be taking the 2nd English course in the summer (probably will be finishing by August). I thought that I would be rejected due to a missing English course by June, but I still got accepted, which made me confused. I already emailed the admission counselor to ask about this but have not got any replies yet, so I’m really worried. Does anyone have the same situation?

Thank you so much! I’m super stoked. Yeah it’s the language requirement and she thought she fulfilled the requirement but just found out she doesn’t very recently. I’ll let her know to contact admissions!

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if theres a checklist anywhere on the portal that checks off what we finished (like submitting SIR, submitting transcripts, etc.) like Berkeley’s portal does. I want to make sure I an sending everything I need to and that UCLA is receiving what I send.
Also, do we need to send in high school transcripts and SAT subject test scores? Other UCs do require we send them but I can’t find anywhere that says UCLA does?

Hey @tserenism she saw that. She also noticed how it’s written. “… and will complete…” It doesn’t really specify that it is required! My Berkeley admission states to specifically submit my IGETC certification and I compared that with what LA states and it’s very vague.

Wow - You really are a strong candidate now that you’ve elaborated. Having 2 in-progress for your major is no big deal. I don’t know what TAP is except you get 2 chances Hahaaa… but maybe send 2 emails asking where you are lacking… 1 email to TAP and 1 email to admissions. Search UCLA’s website to find someone’s email specifically in admissions that has their name in the email who handles transfer students for a better response. If you cannot find someone dealing with transfers, then pick anyone with a name in admissions. Otherwise, email the main admissions but when you’re emailing an individual, you’re most likely to get a response than some random answering the main emails.

@Dehawydias ohh i see, that makes sense.

hey guys, im under the “StarRezPortal” (for housing?) and on the left it has a bit of my info, including “Classification” under email. What does it say for all of you? Mine says “Undergraduate First Year”, which I’m concerned about because I should be starting my 2nd year in the fall (I’m a first-yr transfer), unless it will update once Fall 2020 begins?

@tserenism Mine also undergraduate first year! I am a one year transfer too, but I think it just means our first year on UCLA campus. Unless it’s an error lol

it’s crazy that I made this thread literally almost exactly a year ago and here we are today!! congrats to those who got in!! so proud of you all regardless hehe

HIIII GUYS!!! so i’ve been kinda active this last…lol day

I’m in too!!! CG to ALL WAITLIST AND ACCEPTANCES!!! its 7.4% this year for acceptances so its rough.

Here are my stats for next year transfers:
GPA: 3.75
Major: Pre-Business Econ
Background: Asian Female, Second year CCC transfer, first-gen college student, low income (not a hook but just demographics)

ECs: full-time job, Econ club (just a member)
Essays: Not good, did them the day of (please do not do what i did)
Units: 90+, IGETC completed

TAP CERTIFIED - aka honors done at CCC, poor GPA in high school

BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE wherever life takes you. YOu got this! <3
