@uclagal2020 , pretend you’ve written an autobiography at any time…could be you wrote one today, so it only tells your life story up to this point. So, page 165 might be from your Senior year in high school, or when something impactful happened when you were 18. Or you could be writing your autobiography when you’re 35, and so page 165 might be about something that was going on in your life when you were in grad school or early career or family days. Or you could be writing your autobiography when you’re 80, and so page 165 might be about your late career or retired years, your grandchildren, or your world travels. So, it could be any of these things, or anything in any of those in between years.
@heyigotnoclueheyigotnoclue hey i don’t think it’s bad because the scholarship is offered by the Alumni Scholarship Program, and is completely different from admissions!! i also did not do it LOL
@flyingpancakes00flyingpancakes00 that was happening to one of my friends too, but she just tried a couple of hours after and was able to get in!! if it’s still not working though definitely contact someone in admissions to help!!
So, I’m in a bit of a dilemma and wanted everyone’s opinion on it.
So, I’ve applied to UCLA as a CC transfer 2 times, once last year (waitlisted) and then again this year. Last year I was attending two community colleges and then this year I ended up only taking classes at one of them.
So, when I applied this year, I applied with only one of the CC’s because I had way too many units with both and because my grades were significantly better in the one I applied with.
Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago, I got an email from UCLA asking for an immediate response and for me to give them a detailed description of my life from when I graduated HS until Jan 2019 (when I started the CC I applied with). I didn’t think anything of it, but when I wrote in the Box I didn’t mention my previous CC, only the one I attend now.
Fast forward to today, I got a new immediate response inquiry from them asking for an unofficial transcript from my old CC that I NEVER mentioned on my application.
This scares me for three reasons, one is because I used the same essays as the previous year, two because I don’t want them to think I was lying to them and three because I applied with a different major this year.
My GPA at my current CC is a 3.77 and at my old CC it was a 3.5, so you can see why I was so keen on applying with only one. Additionally, I would have applied with 130+ units had I mentioned both and all the forums I was reading said UC’s don’t like when you’ve gone over and won’t read your application.
What do you guys think I should do and think of the situation? Do you think I won’t be getting in?
@acan123 Applicants are required to report every single college that they have attended whether they want the credits/grades to transfer to UC or not. You purposefully left out important information in your application, and then you left it out again when they requested more information from you about what has happened since you graduated from high school. I think that it is very likely that you will be rejected since you were not 100% honest on your original Fall 2020 UC application.
For the record, you can still apply to UCs with more than 70 (lower division) credits, but UC will only transfer a maximum of 70 semester credits. All of the equivalent transferable courses over 70 credits will be count as being completed at the UC, but the extra credits for these classes will not be counted.
@acan123 they have access to your previous application and you use the same ID#. They saw the earlier transcript and your lack of honesty. I’m sorry but at the end of the day that’s what it boils down to. The application makes very clear that you need to add ALL colleges attended. Then when they gave you the chance to fess up you misrepresented again. Then they demanded the other transcript.
You need to explain yourself immediately but don’t be surprised if you are rejected and it might be noted across all the UCs, which means you might never get accepted again. They do not take misrepresentations on this level well.
Hi everyone! I’m super excited for us and can’t wait for admissions day! Does anyone know an estimate when we will hear back from UCLA yet? Take care, everyone <3
i believe ucla should come out on april 22nd for transfers since last year it came out on the 24th, while berkeley came out on april 19th. this year berkeley is projected to come out on the 17th, so i got the 22nd based off that LOL. also last year, bruin day for transfers was on may 11th, and this year it was supposed to be on may 9th (but obviously it’s not happening anymore). i’m still hopeful ucla will come out by april 22nd, but it’s kinda uncertain due to the coronavrius. :// we will just have to wait to see!! hope you guys are all doing well and taking care during this time!!
Hi all, hoping for good news in the next few weeks. In the mean time, can someone chance me and hopefully answer some questions I have?
Prospective Major: Psychobiology
GPA: 3.68 overall between my current CCC and UCR (2018-19)
TAP: No
IGETC: Done
Major prep: Finished all required classes, except one. I took the first 2 general bio courses in a series at UCR, but there was no equivalent for the last course at my CCC. Also finishing the only recommended course (Ochem II) that was listed this semester.
Essays: I think they were pretty good, wrote about this one course I took at UCR that did genetics research along with the laboratory it was based in. Also wrote how I wanted to switch majors, but it wasn’t offered at UCR
EC: Lifeguard during the summer, was a writer for the UCR newspaper (got hired as an assistant section editor, but resigned since I left UCR)
Question
I just recently noticed that I got an email (sent about a month ago, needed a response within 5 days) requesting me to upload the syllabus of the 2 bio courses I took at UCR, but barely saw it and responded today. I realize any school could have requested (I think it may have been Berkeley because they may want to check course content between a semester-quarter system school), so is it possible I may be screwed? For context, it was an email that said “Your UC Application, Immediate Response Requested”
I also received an email for the Alumni scholarship, and I’ve read the other comments in this thread, but do I have a strong chance for admission?
Hello everyone! I recently made a CC account because I like looking at these threads hehehe. I’m currently attending a CCC and also applied to transfer so I wanted to share my stats like many of you did
Major: Political Science
Alternate Major: Sociology
Current GPA: 3.7
Extra curriculars: I’ve worked in the fields while attending community college and I also helped out with a catechism class
It’s my first year at community college but I was told I can transfer because of the AP credit I received and because of the dual enrollment courses I took in high school. When I applied as a freshman applicant last year, I was asked for supplemental information (the two essay questions they ask), but I was rejected when decisions came out. This year, I was sent an email about applying to the Alumni Transfer Scholarship and I’ve /heard/ (idk if this is true) that it’s a good sign? Also, I want to change my major so if I don’t get accepted at all, I’d be fine staying at my cc and finishing the pre-recs for the major I want to change to. I’ve heard it’s hard to change your major once you transfer but mainly only if they’re in very different categories? Idk, we’ll see what happens.
Good luck to every one that applied, especially fellow community college applicants! I hope you get into the college of our choice, and if you don’t, remember that it’s okay. A rejection does not define you and the college is the one that’s missing out!
@cloudiestcloud it’s hard to change majors into selective schools within the university… Like if you wanted to change from the College of Letters and Science into the School of Engineering, it is close to impossible. If you want to change your major then make sure all your major prep is done and contact the admissions office immediately.
Also, they removed the requirements for the Transfer Alumni Scholarship and it was sent to everyone this year… I believe it used to only be sent to those who have fulfilled the requirements and a good fraction of those happened to be accepted but I think that’s no longer the case:(
hi everyone!
i had a quick question for anyone with a legitimate answer. i am a transfer student applying with 70 units and a gpa of 3.93 (L&S applicant). This semester I am taking calc 2, which happens to be one of my major preps. I am honestly struggling in that class and with the online switch (due to covid-19), I am going to struggle even more. According to the my major’s page, I must complete at least five major prereqs to transfer. If I somehow fail that calc class, i will still have at least 6 of those completed. I am on track to get As in all my other courses (taking 5 total) it is just this one math class.
if accepted (fingers crossed) and I happen to fail, is it likely they will rescind my acceptance? I am preparing for the worst.
also good luck to you all!! this is such a nerve wracking time but I am glad we are in it together
