UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

any pre cogsci majors?

any philosophy majors? wanna talk, chance eachother?

Guys, please relax, and don’t be rude to admission officers. They may do their best and they are not responsible for your anxiety. You’ll hear the good news soon.

heard it’s gonna be this fri @3 or 5

@student2423 I’m a pre cog sci!

Nobody is actually mad at admission officers they’re clearly joking, also it really would not kill them to just write a single tweet/post/email saying “Decisions out Friday” or “We don’t know when we’ll release decisions” rather than leave us in the dark. It’s just stress-inducing.

really hope we both get off/get in to LA. Good luck!

@oceanman32 just keep reading the of decisions of universities that you got into!! lol
im doing it over and over again

Good chance it will be Friday but it’s only a GUESS. ?

hiii i go to ucla right now. i’m an econ major & transferred last year ! i never thought i would get in and i stressed way too much about the admission process (for berkeley mostly bc i didn’t think i had a chance at ucla). honestly, i got myself into such a state and ruined so many weeks living in a constant state of stress so pleaseeee try not to do that. know that just because you’re not in the “average gpa range” doesn’t mean you won’t get in! at all! i did! even then, admissions is a weird process. if you do get in, that’s awesome and it’s going to be amazing. if you don’t, that doesn’t define your intelligence and don’t let it kill your vibe, the school and path you choose will still be amazing. you worked so hard and i’m sure any school you applied to would be an amazing place to attend. and i’m sure you know that deep down. i wish you all good luck, not with the ucla acceptance, but with your happiness now and willingness to understand that your happiness is worth more than the stress you’re putting yourself through right now. easier said than done, obviously. <3

i be drowning in champagne but the cham is silent

@skooobruuu Thank you so much for this! One question - how hard did you find adjusting to the curriculum at LA? If I did somehow get in, my logic may be to choose another school that might be easier to keep a higher GPA at. Grad school is a must for me, so GPA matters. I’m a psych student. Thanks again!

@letstryround2 don’t go to a school that you think will be “easier”. you’re selling yourself short. you will be able to handle it. it will be a lot different than community college, in so many ways. but that will happen anywhere. you will be able to handle the academics of wherever you go, if you got accepted to that school then that means you are capable of handling it. Don’t go somewhere just because you think you will get better grades there… that’s a depressing way to live your life, and with that mindset you are simply selling yourself short.

pretty much everyone who transfers here wants to go to grad school. we didn’t deny ourselves this opportunity because of doubts. we went with it. and so should you

@letstryround2 Only you can decide the answer. Having a high GPA is critical for a top grad school so don’t feel pressured to go somewhere if it worries you. It is actually a winning strategy followed by many. If accepted to UCLA you should ask around before you decide.

How are you feeling about admissions? what are your stats

By far the funniest thread I’ve read here.

You guys are going to make me sad I’m likely gonna pick UCB over UCLA.

This thread is making me want to pick UCLA if I get in. It was my 4th choice! Even with it being there my anxiety for not knowing is getting to me! I already didnt get into my top choice!

So anxious! 4.0: Communication major
But I feel like everyone who applies to that major has a 4.0 ://

Honestly I doubt I’ll get in! I’m missing a physics class (third in 3 course series) because my school didn’t offer it but my major is physics…

bro I was hoping to come home from my shift to an admissions decision from UCLA… disappointed

to reiterate my stats and stuff:
major - Musical Theatre
GPA - 3.86
ECs - PAC usher volunteer, worked at a fast food restaurant and a movie theatre, outside shows and concerts, yay

I really doubt I’ll get in? My audition was solid but it sounds like UCLA is also very set on a four-year cohort. Not too mad, because I like the options I have, but I’m still so damn nervous about a decision.
