I have finally decided on attending UCLA, but I’m having an issue with understanding how I would sign up for spanish classes. I hope to apply for Latin American studies major. I have completed one semester of spanish (satisfies the IGETC), and will by taking the second semester of spanish in the summer. I’m confused because I have found to different answers:

  1. Placement test will indicate the level to enroll in
  2. Placement test suggested, but the student can determine their own placement.

Does Spanish courses taken at CC level mean nothing? I have emailed two staff members, and haven’t replied yet.

***I know many people have posted threads without searching simple questions, but I have searched and seem to receive different answers.

Thank you for doing the work to find out! The best answers will come from the staff/department people.

I believe that at some point in the summer our CC transcripts are evaluated and we are given the equivalent status at UCLA, but I’m not sure.
