UCLA Freshman Class of 2027 Waitlist/Appeal Thread

None of the 4 that we know are EE

I am also waiting for mechanical eng, and I havent heard off any. The good scenerio is that they havent reviewed yet. However, it might be that everybody initially admitted had commited and there is no open spot for us now.
It seems that they will release new admits-if there are any- on Friday/Saturday.

My son was admitted April 28 off of the waitlist for EE. I think he was the first admit to engineering reported off the waitlist in this group.

Is this in state or OOS?

Seems like the in-state has been mostly who have cleared waitlist. Any OOS people heard anything yet?

There were some OOS admits during the Saturday wave on May 6, which included states like Texas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and even Hawaii. Given that in-state, OOS, and even international applicants were admitted during that wave, I’d assume everyone still has a shot at this point, so don’t lose hope yet!

Do you guys know when the L&S waves come? I applied as microbio major

There have been many L&S admits since late April and from what @Gumbymom has said in this thread, the majority of waitlist admits will come from L&S. There are no specific dates for waves, so anything can happen on any given day.

UCLA posted that their waitlist admits will be rolling so as noted by @socalrandom they can happen at anytime. As the admits accept or decline their admission, then UCLA will send out more decisions to slowly fill the spots. This can continue for several weeks to months.

How are waitlisted applicants ranked? Is it based on the ranking that they assign at the time of initial decision or do they assign a new rankings to waitlisted candidates based on their LOCI?

UCLA like all the UC’s do not rank the waitlisted applicants. They will admit based on institutional priorities taking into account the original UC application and the waitlist statement and updated grades/activities. They are not transparent on how and whom they admit, but first and foremost it is based on their own criteria which is determined by admissions.

@Gumbymom,
I apologize if this is an OT question. What’s the acceptance rate by major at ucla? I’m not sure if the info is available already, or when this info will be available.

UCLA does not publish acceptance rate by major for all majors accept for Engineering and Nursing. L&S does not admit by major.

Does anyone know if you accept waitlist offer from UCLA but you don’t immediately withdraw from another UC, does that impact anything? My daughter is still hesitant but wants to get in her housing app for UCLA asap so wants to accept waitlist offer. Do the schools talk to each other and know that a student is technically enrolled for both for a short period of time (and yes I know this is not ideal and not how waitlists are supposed to work but I am asking a logistical question). Thanks.

Usually if you SIR from the waitlist, there will be a popup warning that you have already SIR’d to another UC campus and you will need to withdraw ASAP. I would say as long as withdraw within a few days, you should be OK. The schools do not talk to each other about admissions but UCOP has a database of whom has SIR’d to a UC.
