UCLA Greek Life (guys)

so im going to ucla next year as a freshman and i definitely want to rush. i dont really know that many people that are going to the school right now and the ones that are arent really into the whole greek scene. so ive always been nervous about rushing and the whole frat scene because im not your typical frat guy. in fact im the exact opposite of a bro

im bi (more into girls than guys) but a lot of people think i am. all my friends in high school were girls and i sound like a girl, but i love to get drunk and party and have a good time. definitely wont have trouble getting along with the sororities but i just feel like i want to join a frat to get into that whole scene and to make friends along the way you know?

what do i do can someone help me out. does anyone know any frats that would be more welcoming of something like that? i dont need gay tolerance or whatever i just dont want to feel awkward or unwelcomed you know? i just want to fit in and whatever (i never had trouble with that in high school, but only because i never had to commit to like a gender-specific thing to go out on the party scene)

does anyone know any frats at ucla that i should look at for rush? thanks

Here’s three great threads:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/94887-best-fraternity.html

The last two are more recent, but things don’t change much. According to a guy in the third link, DTD, Zeta Psi, and Pi Kapp are the most accepting to non-traditionals. There’s also Delta Lamda Phi, which is our gay and bisexual one.

honestly though, you sound like you’re good with girls, so that’s definitely a plus. rush week is during week 1, so just check out the free events and see what you like.

Also, I don’t know if it matters to you or not, but I really recommend rushing in the spring for the fact that it will be easier to make friends (and easier to get bids). Generally everyone makes friends during fall quarter as people get into their cliques and become less social by spring quarter. Rushing takes a lot of time, so it will be a lot harder to hang out/meet people. It’ll also give you a chance to get a feel for the frats.

hope that helped!

I’m also going to UCLA in the fall and will be rushing also! Do you have Facebook?

How much easier is it to get a bid in spring? I’m a second year so I’d rather not wait that long to rush.

i mean i dont want to join the gay/bi frat for sure id rather join a normal frat because im not really looking to be surrounded by gay guys no offense or anythingg. i mean dont people usually go straight to frats week one? like isnt that better?
