UCLA Honors Program--Worth it?

Hey everyone,

Is the UCLA Honors Program worth it? I've been reading the other threads on this, and it seems like priority enrollment has been removed. So, is it worht the extra work? How much extra work is the program?

Thanks.

There is no more priority enrollment. Completion of the honors program will get you a an extra stamp on your transcript when you graduate, but it doesn’t really offer any other perks. Maybe extended library privileges, but nothing that great.

No, avoid it. Obtaining departmental honors instead is far more valuable and worthwhile.

What the difference of Honors program and deptmental honors and what do you have to do to maintain in either honors? Can you be in both of them? How beneficial are they?

I believe that departmental honors count for university honors units, so you can knock down 2 birds with 1 stone basically.

You can also get honors counseling

There’s no reason not to do college honors if you get in, it’s maybe two additional classes (that can satisfy GE’s) and you need to maintain a 3.5, but it’s a nice recognition on your transcript.
