UCLA Housing App: Photo?

Is it mandatory that we upload a "passport quality" photo when completing the housing app? I don't really see the point of this.

Not at all. Skiiiiiiiiiiiip.

When I’ve completed my housing app, this shows up, along with my $30 payment confirmation:

Is my housing app considered incomplete until I upload/ send in a passport photo?

Also, to my understanding, freshmen housing offers must be accepted by mid May, and payments must be made by late May. If I’m eligible for financial aid, when and how will UCLA give me the aid? Will I have to pay for the housing first, then UCLA will send me my aids after the school year had started?

I don’t know why housing would need this, but I have seen many Bruin Cards (ID card that also serves as your meal card, library card, John Wooden Center pass, football tickets, basketball tickets, etc) where the photo clearly looks like a passport photo sent in by a student rather than a photo taken on campus at Kerckhoff.

Perhaps housing requests these because it allows them to create the Bruin Cards ahead of time and minimizes the number of students waiting in line at Kerckhoff to get their ID pictures taken in person.

Just a guess.

3rd year in dorms. Never uploaded a single pic. Or if I did, I might have used Kobe Bryant or something, lol. It’s been too long. Don’t know why they would need it. Unless they’ve changed policy starting for your year.

Also, you don’t get a dime of financial aid until Fall (September). So everything until then, you pay up out of pocket. (BTW, technically, financial aid doesn’t really cover housing anyways.)
Welcome to life at UCLA, where you’ll discover all sorts of fees no one ever told you about.

@alicantekid That’s cause you can use a passport photo for your BruinCard. When I first got into UCLA, I sent the BruinCard people (not housing) my passport photo. I also highly doubt the BruinCard people and housing talk with each other… call it experience talking.

How does UCLA’s financial aid works? Do they just mail me a check in September, where then I can cash it back into my bank account?

Pic is used for your bruincard. Pretty much a waste as it’s UCLA’s way of just trying to get ahead of the workload they will have at orientation. Just go to orientation, wait in line to get photo taken at bruin card center on the hill, wait 5 minutes - BOOM - bruin card

Refer to my post here about how financial aid works:

I also doubt Housing would be involved with making BruinCards. But f it is, then that’s something new.

Just found this in the housing website. I suppose it is mandatory. :<
[Submit application picture](Error)

That Ask Housing page was apparently published in 2005 and updated in 2011, but I’ve never heard of such a thing before.

Is there a room dimension for each of the housing options out there? I kind of want to go shopping for college ahead of time. lol

bumpy bump
