3.82GPA
4.0 major GPA
History major
No ECs
Full time n part time job
Good personal statments id say 8/10
All pre reqs completed as if this fall taking 2 extra for UCLA in spring
My weakness is will be completing math in spring
And non transferable math in winter
3 Ws total 1 in none required history class and 2 in the same non transferable math class

Uhm I’m not 100% sure but everything looks great.

You may have to submit the app, get denied because of the Math but appeal once you get math completed and I’d say from looking at other Threads you have a 98% at UCSD and a 80-85% UCLA

W’a don’t matter and
Average Admit for History major at UCLA last year was 3.71

Your major GPA is perfect for UCLA, so that will help a lot. Your UC GPA is above the average for the history major; this too is great. ECs don’t matter much, so I think you’ll be fine.

What do you mean when you say “all pre reqs completed as of this fall taking 2 extra for UCLA in spring”? Are you taking more history classes in spring by choice or because you feel you’ll need extra preparation or what? In any case, it would seem that you’re good to go here.

Contrary to popular belief, UCLA doesn’t care if you do your math in the spring. The only UC that seems to care is UCSB, oddly enough. Plenty of people get admitted to UCLA every year while doing their math requirement in the spring.

W’s don’t matter all that much. They don’t matter at all if they’re in nontransferable classes, so one W in a transferable class that you don’t even need will be fine.

With all of that being said, I think you have an excellent shot at UCLA and UCSD. Good luck!

Cayton: Thanks for the clarification!!
So do they send out a conditional acceptance??

@Matt4200

Yes they do. When they admit you, they give you some sort of contract that you must agree to, typically stipulating that you must maintain a certain GPA; for UCLA, they send different applicants different contracts with different stipulations for some reason. It may have to do with the demand for the major they are admitted to.

Typically, though, UCLA will want you to maintain a cumulative 3.0 or 3.5 GPA and earn only As and Bs in your spring semester. No Cs. For some people they’re required to get straight As or As and only one B. They say they’ll rescind you if you don’t uphold the contract, but I’ve heard of a lot of people getting a C or two in their last semester and not getting rescinded. They definitely will rescind you if you get a D, F, or W in any class without a damned good explanation.

UCSD offers similar contracts, although they seem to be a lot more lenient than UCLA’s.

Hmm I never knew that that’s crazy haha

@Cayton I am taking additional major courses because a UCLA rep advised that his would make me a stronger candidate. It also helps on a less heavy course load in the future after transfer (I hope).

Most UC reps told me because of math I would be conditionally accepted but I never knew how all that worked thanks for the info!

@sonic23

I see. I think you’ll be just fine, man. I hope to see you at UCLA next year! I think we’ll both get in.

@Cayton I hope so!

conditionally probably means that they’ll accept you if you take your math and pass it by spring. So i’m pretty sure you’re in at UCLA due to your GPA and confidence in personal statements.
