I'm a transfer student at UCLA and I was thinking of where to go and when to go. I'm a Civil Engineer major and I would be taking civil engineering classes if I study abroad. Where is a fun great place to go. I was thinking of going during summer, but it might be too short of a time to enjoy being abroad. Any suggestions on which country to apply for and/or when is a good time to go?

My boyfriend is a civil engineering major from Poland and he went to Germany... to Kaiserslautern. You should check with the international center at UCLA and see what they have to offer in terms of engineering programs. I know my university has general study abroad programs and then some specifically for engineering, journalism and business. I've studied abroad twice and I think the best amount of time to go is for two semesters, but that's because I wanted to learn the languages. If you're looking to learn the language, more than a semester is the best. Otherwise, the summer semester is fine too; there'd be better weather in most places then as well. I think Spring semester in most places is the best other than that, because you go from winter to summer weather, versus the other way around and then in th summer you'd probably have extra time if you wanted to travel some more. GOOD LUCK!

australia would be another cool place to go. it would be tons of fun, and you would probably get to see some pretty cool projects for how theyre dealing with the water shortage that they have over there.
