So I cannot decide between attending NYU or UCLA. At NYU, I've been admitted into Stern business with a pretty normal financial package, and UCLA just undeclared with a normal financial package. I am COMPLETELY confused and I don't want to regret my choice. If anyone can give me some serious answers, pros and cons of each, or any help in general that would be awesome. I have visited both, and that only made the decision harder!!

yah i probably should have added that I am not completely sure that I want to do business. I would hate going to NYU and end up deciding that I want to do medical when I know I could have done that at UCLA.

If you’re a CA resident, there is no question - UCLA, hands down. Simply for the cost. Not to mention that you can major in bus-econ at UCLA and then go on to the Anderson school of business for grad school, one of the best in the country.

You can also factor in the college life experience… NYU doesn’t exactly have a traditional college campus, while UCLA does. Although NYU is in the middle of Greenwhich Village, I think UCLA would be more fun because its a campus setting with more traditions/athletic events, etc… Both schools are well known for business. I am only biased because I live in CA and I think that UCLA is more prestigious than NYU… and that you would have a more fun time at UCLA. It’s less urban and hectic than NYU and more relaxed, social scene.

My daughter, who is a freshman at UCLA right now, was also torn between these 2 schools. We attended an open house at NYU and also spent lots of time in NY. I was born in NY City and my daughter had been there a number of times. When it got right down to it UCLA won for overall traditional college experience. As you know NYU is in the middle of Greenwich Village so it’s hard to tell where the campus starts and ends. They don’t have the traditional sports/school spirit thing going. My daughter decided that she really wanted those things to be a part of her experience. UCLA is a great combination of location, beautiful campus, great academics, sports, etc. She is very happy with her decision. For you it really must be a decision about the differences in the two schools. They are both fantastic and going to school in NY City would be amazing experience but you have decide what kind of college experience you want for 4 years.

sorry for the late reply but I decided on UCLA after everything. I went to NYU and it was fun but UCLA felt like the right fit for me in the end. Thanks for all the help!

OH MY GOODNESS ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I WAS ALSO TORN BETWEEN THE TWO and paid both deposits - STERN and UCLA and then I chose UCLA TOO - OMG WOWWWW. I was totally mezmerized by the school when I visited (though sometimes I do think back…perhaps Stern??? just mainly coz i’ve studied business in high school for 4 yrs) So I guess I’m kinda taking a risk with the whole ECON and NEW academics thing but WOHAAAAAAAAA I’m still SO SHOCKED to find someone else who went through the same thing (found loads of NYU vs UCLA people, but no Stern vs. UCLA people)
