Hey you guys!! I need serious help...Im planning to transfer either to UCLA or UCI, however I do not know which one to go for! I've always wanted to go to UCI in high school, however that did not happen and I ended up at UCR. But now I am able to transfer, and w/what's going on, I now have a choice of UCI or UCLA!! I would never think of UCLA in high school, but now that I am able to have a shot at it, why not?

UCI is beautiful, I love the OC area, but could there be a chance of too much socializing?

UCLA is great, I love LA, plus it's very prestigious and has great science programs and a lot more majors than some other UC's. But what Im scared about is that it could be a bit hard such as studying and getting good grades..?!

All I know is that I want to study my butt off, get good grades and eventually get into dentistry school.

But yes, any advice at which school to choose would be great!! It's so hard because they are both really great schools!

If all you want to do is study, UCI is a pretty mellow campus. I wouldn't worry about "too much socializing" there. Its in the middle of oc suburbia, so its basically a little utopian bubble where nothing really happens. Beautiful area though.

i tend to find it scary why people would want to go to UCI! no offense. only because i live like 30 minutes away or so, and it's just so random and boring around that area, there's like, a movie theater, an in-n-out, and a tea place. UCLA all the frickin way man. sooooooooo much always going on around there!

I am not sure what your major is, but if you are in the sciences, do not assume UCI is going to be easy.

I have family members who have gone to each school.

UCI= Newport Beach and most upperslassman live off campus on Newport Peninsula or even Balboa Island- that is a blast. You are in OC, you would likely need a car to survive. A majority of students live off campus. Great baseball team, traditionally.

UCLA= Downtown Westwood, more of a town to go into and walk around, seeing poeple, very yuppie, beach at Santa Monica. Pac 10 sports and a more well-known reputation, but reputationis for bragging to others, not living it.

Can you do an all day visit to each.

Both have frats & sororities which I would recommend for making a big school smaller and meeting people right away.

HAHA okay thanks guys for your help...ahh my first post so don't get mad...

but yea besides the area...i want to know more of the school and their education...

right now i'm in Biological Sciences at UC Riverside (which is not a school for me) and would like to go to dentistry school...so would LA be better or Irvine? they're both great schools, each has their own hospitals...but I would not know which school I can handle educationally...hard teachers, hard test...which school and why?...

maybe what would be helpful are the schools pros and cons eductionally...
