If you were admitted to both UCLA and USC on a full scholarship, which would you go to? Why?

UCLA in a heartbeat.

I like the school better. And by "school," I mean the environment, program for my major, and my peers.

UCLA. I got into both with zero financial aid as OOS, and im happy to be going to UCLA. Top-tier, work renowned college, more opportunites, best area in LA, overall sports.. yea i could go on.

If you posted this in the USC forum, theyll probably say the same things. Don't listen to them: theyre just trying to justify paying 50k a year to go to a worse school

UCLA, no question.

Hey upforit, this is exactly my situation! Thanks for posting this :)

hmmmm... probably UCLA

USC is in the ghetto.

crosses fingersi hope i get into UCLA at least :]

Yeah

My dad was like "USC is a nice campus, beautiful, but none of my friends ever went out past 11PM"

lol

it is ghetto

i'd be ecstatic if i got admitted to LA.
USC, I wouldnt even go IF i had a full ride..
extreme bias i know =]

I'd probably choose USC because I want Business!

probably ucla. at this point though, i'm in at usc and still waiting for ucla though...

I didn't apply to USC.

USC Marshall

how is business at UCLA like?

^ there's no "business" major at UCLA

Well here's my take. I got a full ride (trustee scholarship) to USC. UCLA, on the other hand, didn't offer me a single dime. My first thought was, wow, they must really be hurting for good students if they are giving me a full scholarship, eh? Ok, joking. Anyway, I wasn't aiming for any special field (ie, "business", film, nursing), so I was looking at general letters and sciences. When I visited both schools, I just liked UCLA a whole lot better. There was no comparison. Some people choose their schools based on some concrete reason (like, this place has a good X program or is offering X amount of money or is ranked #X on us news and rankings), but I did it for very personal reasons that only I could presume to understand (people, environment, gut feeling, etc).

hey yeahh
I visted USC recently with Explore to interview for Trustee
the campus is gorgeous but just doesnt compare!

You know who else likes USC?

These Guys

^ that's more than enough to choose UCLA

i got into both and if it was between the two id lean toward USC, mainly b/c UCLA is pretty restrictive with scheduling, for my majors i couldnt even apply until sophomore year. Both my parents went to UCLA and i grew up a bruin fan, but since I don;t want to go do anything Math/Sciene related i'd rather go with the school that opens doors and become a trojan, of course i don;t fault any one who likes UCLA, theres no denying its a great school too

Let's tweak this a bit -- sorry OP for hijacking:
If you have to pay full freight (CA resident) as pre-biz econ at UCLA or at USC's Marshall, what would you do? Hands-down Marshall has a better program, but is it worth double the cost? An MBA is the ultimate goal, but realistically there will be a gap to work for a while before graduate school.
(Also posted on the USC board)

true, if grad school is the goal then the cheaper, still respectable program may be better, and the more restrictive scheduling may actually kepp you rounded which i guess is good for some programs
