If certain pre-reqs are required by UCLA, but they aren't showing up on assist.org, does that mean that you shouldn't take them? For example, they require a linguistics class and my CCC offers an Anthro Language and Culture class, but it doesn't show up as an articulated class on assist.org. Should I take it anyway or would it be a waste of time? I'm assuming that they cut you slack for not completing a pre-req or two if they are not showing up as articulated courses on assist.org, right?

Your question is very broad, but I'm gonna assume a few things.

Only take a class as a major prerequisite if it had an articulated class at the other institution. That is, of course, unless you want to take it for your own interest. Are you sure you're not talking about some general education thing?

If the course is not listed on assist.org than it does not satisfy the preq so even though your CCC may offer a course that you think would meet that requirement, UCLA does not think that course meets the requirement, so there is no point in you taking it because you would have to petition to get it approved as that preq that UCLA wants.

You do not have to take preq courses not offered at your CCC_ you will NOT be penalized for that, nor do you have to go and find some other CCC and attend it that has the course. You are only held accountable for completing the preqs listed on assist.org for your major that are OFFERED at your CC

Thank you Malishka!! That helps a ton! :-)

okay, this is very confusing. i'm a poli sci major and quite frankly, i hate math. but on

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Transfer Major Prep - Political Science

it claims we have to take one statistics class. i notice the note below that portion but i REALLY want to double check this because the weird thing is the only CC on assist.org that has a course equivalent is De Anza. Almost every other school (including SMC) doesnt have stats. So if 99% of the schools dont have stats, does that mean that the requirement is irrelevant? But second, isnt it true that we have to finish the major prereqs at UCLA if they werent offered at our respective cc?

It doesnt mean the requirement is Irrelevant, it is just not offered, you will still take it at UCLA.

Since when do 99% of CCs not offer Stats?

i believe it is a specific type of stats course for social sciences.

there is a stats course at my cc, but it isnt required. malishka, is there anyway of getting around this stat requirement? i hate math and do not want to risk it at UCLA but rather at a cc. can i take it the summer before my transfer to UCLA at another cc and get credit for it?

you can take it at any CC not even during the summer if you want, you can enroll in 50 CCs for all they care. ... so yes you can do that.
