Hi,
I’m from a transfer student from the Bay Area. I was wondering if I should start taking summer classes this 2015. I have done all the preparation courses for Psychobiology EXCEPT the Physics series. Should I take Physics 6A this summer? I’m pretty scared to take summer classes immediately because I came from a CC with semester sessions. Also, I don’t know where I would stay during the entire time since I’m from the Bay Area.
I mean if you don’t have anything else lined up for summer, you might as well knock out some pre-reqs…I would argue that even though summer session is crammed into 6 weeks, it can actually be pretty chill/relaxing depending on your courseload, I typically found myself with more free time than expected even with research on the side. I took 6A a few years ago with Nassar who’s a really nice guy, would recommend. I knew people in the class who were non-UCLA students, as long as you put in the time and effort to attend lecture, do the HW problems/practice exams, and go to office hours and seek help when you need it it should be a good starting experience. Taking summer classes may be a nice way to get acclimated to UCLA since not much happens on campus compared to the regular year and you won’t be bombarded with finding activities and clubs to join. You can kind of establish a footing and make some friends, plus I feel summer classes are more leniently graded. The campus is relatively empty and I loved it. Since I didn’t have a car I just ended up studying a lot anyway.
