UCLA recognition in the East Coast

Hello-
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how UCLA is viewed on the East Coast of the U.S. I know here in the west, UCLA is viewed as pretty prestigious. Does the same hold true on the east? I'm just curious..

yes, it’s viewed as a very good school.

I think its safe to say that its a very well known school everywhere. It is overshadowed a little bit by the really big names over here though like Duke and the ivies

I think it’s a very good school! I was actually considering applying there but I live in New York, and i reasoned that it’s too far (and too expensive to come and go during breaks)…

To be honest, before all of this college application process, I only ever heard of Berkeley and UCLA for California schools. (Oh and Stanford)

Do a lot of students over there apply to California schools, particularly UCLA? I know on the east UNC is really well respected, but unfortunately, not many people recognize or are familiar with the school here (southern California). Is it viewed as being impressive for job/employers? I was thinking of moving East after I graduate, New York City in particular.

In my school, there were plenty of people who applied to Californian schools. And if I asked my friends which one they recognize: UCLA or Smith College (a college in western mass. that I dearly love and will attend in the fall <3), they’d most likely say UCLA. Seriously.

Anyway, I think you’d go far with UCLA.
