Hi everyone.
I know there is still plenty of time to decide but I thought it would be good to get some other people’s opinions. I was accepted to UCSD on aerospace engineering and UCLA on physics.
As of right now, I’m leaning towards UCSD. At the same time though, I didn’t expect to get into UCLA at all anyway. Physics isn’t my first choice of major and I’m worried about the prospects of jobs after the degree, but UCLA is a bit more renown than UCSD.
If mechanical engineering is what you want to do then I would suggest you do it. UCSD is still an excellent school to attend but you do lose the UCLA name. In the end, is the school name really that important to you so much that you would chose a major you don’t seem to want to pursue over one that you actually want to pursue? If there was a huge gap in the prestige of the schools and opportunities available then the decision would be more difficult.
