UCLA School of art Q's

Hello,

I applied to UCLA's art program as a transfer student in november and completed the supplement in january, now i'm just waiting to hear back and sort of anxious about certain aspects of my application that might put me out of the running from an excellent program that is both exclusive and competitive.

I know that the most critical aspect of the art app is the portfolio submitted with the supplement and i know that each portfolio is reviewed by the art faculty and they ultimately decide who gets in and who does not.

That said, based on my past discussions with UCLA reps you first have to get into the school itself before the faculty even reviews your portfolio and this is where I get worried. GPA wise i'm kosher, i exceed the minimum by a large margin, i've completed the IGETC and will be leaving with honors. I know that a very big factor in determining admissions is how much one has completed towards their major and this is where i run into a potential problem. that being that based on their major prep outline on the art site located here:

Transfer Preparation - Arts Majors - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions

it lists two courses "sculpture" and "new genres" both of which are not offered at the cc that I attend. would they factor this into their decision? I have completed all the other courses and have taken a 3 dimensional design class along with an intro to multimedia class both which could count as a sculpture class and a new genres class (but according to UCLA do not).

thanks in advance

For transfer admission, the admissions office ONLY reviews applications to the College of Letters & Science. Applications for the School of the Arts and Architecture are reviewed by faculty members within the school.
