what do you mean "keyboard" are you talking about a typing class?

no, like piano keyboard. musical instrument.

ohh , yah i wouldnt take that unless it was part of your major. If that is your elective you should instead look up the easy elective list.

Piano keyboard you should take at CC- if you want to explore your interests type of deal, take it at CC. I can see how UCLA can be hardcore about music

best easy upper div elective is something like "college life and expectations" or something to that effect, it is under Community Health sciences i believe, basically it is one of those easy A courses where you write about yourself and dont have to go to class.

Then there is the Ethnomusicology courses, require attendance and stuff but once again easy A.

World Arts and Cultures, there is an easy 5 unit one in there offered in the fall. I think it is 100A

i mean, 3 years of harp and 3 years of piano, I thought keyboard would be pretty easy. But then again, I've learned that it is best to go into a music class with a blank mind. Beginning Keyboard, really that hard? I imagine it's taken by non-music majors. But you never know.

What is the easy elective list? I have never seen this list! lol.

I have no musical talents, i would find it deathly hard probably .

You may not

Go to bruinwalk.com look up the teacher.

lol, no one has ever had him before. Or no one has ever review him/her before, not even on ratemyprofessor.com

I guess I can just try. I'm ok at music theory and I don't mind practicing for hours. What will I practice on? I have no clue (we have a keyboard at home but it seems overkill to take it there with me).

I have 12 hours Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to dedicate to my two classes. Along with 8 hours on Tuesdays and 6 hours on Thursdays. Then pretty much 18 hours on the weekend. If I just manage my time right, grit my teeth and focus, I think I can handle it.

Keyword: think.

wow ok, sorry i was never that much of an overachiver at ucla, my lowest grade was a B and i got that because i did not take the final. I still only did some homework here and there..but mainly i super crammed b4 finals as usual..except for one class that had video lectures in which case i didnt go to a single course but just watched the videos b4 the final and took notes.

Ucla might be harder with the 10 week schedule and all but please dont assume you have to dedicate THAT much time to it.

lol, that actually makes me feel a lot better.

i've been hearing horror stories from students of all walks of life. i don't think i'm a genius but i like to think i'm clever.

since it's my first time, i guess i'll find out exactly how hard i need to try. i'm pretty efficient when it comes to studying, but again... i don't know what to expect.

but you've calmed a lot of fears. i only hope that i can fare as well as you did, lol.

The biggest thing is that CC has a lot of babysitting. You know like class is worth 500 points, 100 is homework, 100 is each of 3 exams then another 100 is for attendance and participation, you know stuff like that.

Most courses at UCLA are not like that, it is Midterm + final, or in some cases just final. Sure you might get some points for going to discussion if there is one, or in the case of math courses there is some points for homework and some random quizzes, but your grade consists primarily of Midterm(s) + final especially in like history type courses.... courses where you have to know stuff but not do calculation type basically...

Malishka31, yes, I signed up for a language course (intermediate Chinese). I haven't taken Chinese in 3 years, so I am rusty though . . . I hope they don't knock me back down to 1st year, or else I will have a scheduling conflict in the fall if the times on URSA are accurate.
