Anyone planning on taking Summer school at LA?

I enrolled in one class at LA, but will need housing. I was gonna apply for housing but saw the prices and wow....1k-2k just for 6 weeks of school (and only for one class, too...)

Is it really worth this much to take one class?

I'm taking summer school as well and will be living on campus. I will be taking two classes, one being Asian American studies and the other a major requirement.

I think you should consider taking another course. If you examine your hours of free time, given that you are not working over summer, you will see that you have a considerable amount. This is my opinion, based off the fact that your class is 4 units (a guess).

I was really hesitant at first, but was pushed by my family and my favorite professor. As it IS a summer course, it is often considered to be easier (condensed but abridged... if that makes sense). I do have a discussion in one class, but not in the other. Somehow, my schedule works out AGAIN that I have Fridays off.

But since you're taking summer school and we are friends on facebook (lol!) I hope you keep in touch and that we may meet up on campus!

Session A, right?

Actually I enrolled in session C since I'm gonna be taking classes at my city college from June-July.

Are you only gonna be in Session A? Or is your other class gonna coincide with the other sessions?

If you're gonna be in session C, we should most definitely chill. From what I hear the Halls in Sprout they're using for session C are gonna be brand new and totally reconstructed for summer.

=( I'm only taking session A.

I actually read a report that Sproul Hall will be closed for all of next year. Maybe they'll open it temporarily, but I remember hearing concerns about the packed rooms because of the fact that Sproul will be completely close in the fall.

I'll be in Reiber Hall, the dorm for session A. But if I find anything out, I'll totally let you know! You know, shuttle, class and difficulty wise.

take an online class- Film is offering 3 online courses in the summer. You will be able to earn units for graduation and elective credit- and the teacher is the easiest on campus.

You can stay home this way but still do upper division units for UCLA.

I just enrolled in one class for session A... Do I have the option of withdrawing without any penalties?? Sigh.. I should find out more about these things before I make the plunge.. My schedule is really tight during that month...

Also are there more benefits to enrolling in more than one class? Am I at some financial disadvantage? I have a hefty sum to pay.... I don't know if it's worth it (as the original poster stated)..... Damnit if I had only known sooner!

yes you will lose 100 bucks if you withdraw from all courses.

what do you mean "benefits to more than one class"

Just the usual- get more units- finish requirements- graduate

You pay per unit ... but,, one could make the argument that if you are going to pay for housing you might as well pay for as many classes as you can physically and mentally go to so as to not waste the housing.
