UCLA switching majors

Okay here's my dilemma. I know how competitive it is to get into UCLA's communications major after transferring from a community college. So, I was wondering if I could transfer as an, let's say, English major and then switch to Communications once I'm at UCLA (assuming that I get in). Would my chances be better to apply as an English major and then switch to Communications rather than applying as a Communications major from the getgo?

How long would I have to wait to switch majors? Is it even possible to switch? Is it realistic? ANY help please!!!!!

it is not realistic at all. Comm is one of ucla’s most impacted majors and they don’t allow students to switch in unless you personally know the dean or something. Also, you realize english is impacted as well right?

Yeah i just looked that up… Also, do you know if it would hurt my chances of getting in if I haven’t completed my math courses? I will have it done by the Spring after I apply but not by Fall. I will have 95% of my pre reqs done as well.
