I wanna believe so! But don’t get your hopes too up, patiently waiting will be the best option
No one yet? If the results don’t come out today it has to be next week. Idk why UCLA is more confusing and vague compared to Berkeley
Hey, everyone. I was also waitlisted, but I just heard today from a friend who works for housing at LA that the school had over accepted undergrad students. This was indicated by a severe shortage in guaranteed housing that could be provided by the school. What this means is that very little to no people will be accepted off the waitlist. Take it for what it’s worth, but that could explain why we haven’t heard back compared to the people from last year. Obviously, this is all hearsay, but I would use now to just plan accordingly with the UCs that have come out with their waitlist.
Say it isn’t so.
I’m really afraid so. I really wouldn’t say this to bum anyone out, but I’m sure, like myself, a lot of you are holding out for LA. However, as deadlines quickly come up, we need to be more mindful and judicious about how to prepare for next semester.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t lose hope! UCLA will figure things out, there is no way there will be close to no students getting accepted/
Right, or why bother putting us on the waitlist if they accepted way more than what they needed.
I really hope that isn’t the case!
@tn1315 Your friend is correct. It wasn’t an over admittance but the yield rate has been higher than years past. Ucla is currently above target enrollment for the admitted classes.
@10s4life Do you the rejection letter will come out sooner then? I believe that none of us would wanna wait for another 2-4 weeks just to get rejected.
@OnlyPartly I haven’t really heard when final rejections would come out. It’s getting close to finals so I’ve been concentrating on that. Worst comes to worst is it comes out near July.
I don’t see how because the yield is higher than usual, that nobody has been accepted. Wouldn’t they just accept fewer people, rather than no one? I feel like they should still release a wave.
If the housing is the main problem, then maybe they will release a wave after June 15, since they say if you’re admitted after then, you don’t get guaranteed housing:
“If you are admitted after June 15, you will need to submit an appeal for guaranteed housing, or apply as a lottery applicant. Lottery applicants are not guaranteed a space and will receive offers as space becomes available.”
Anyone else dying from the waiting game?
-raises hand- I hope there’s a wave on Monday???
I think there won’t be a wave until the 16th if there really is a housing shortage, which there probably is. I think they’re waiting because they know they can’t guarantee housing for us. I can’t think of another reason why they haven’t accepted anyone by now.
UCLA’s campus is only 419 acres, and that’s for a population of 45,000 people.
Ahhhhh, that’s so frustrating because I have to submit my SIR for Berkeley before the 14th is over…
@OnlyPartly I would submit the SIR and pay the $250. You can always cancel your acceptance, you just won’t get back that $250.
The portal is down right now… but I’m probably just crazy for refreshing the portal every 2 minutes
update: yup i am overreacting
Rip… I can’t wait any longer
Is getting guaranteed housing a big deal for you guys? If you were admitted without guaranteed housing, would that impact your decision?
