@jonsnow666 do you mind sharing a general summary of what your appeal was founded on and what your wrote?
Still nothing…
I talked yesterday to an advisor they said today by 5pm they will have the appeals finished.
Same here
i think its time to start focusing on CSUN ughh with a 3.7 man if i would have known CSUN was going to become my transfer school i could of just done the bare minimum…
@Bltrn789 did you apply to an impacted major? A 3.7 gpa isn’t bad at all. Did you apply to other ucs?
I really hope it is today. I submitted my housing contract already to UCSB - to cancel it will be a $250 fee, but If UCLA accepts me - then I’ll happily pay the cancellation fee.
Very honestly, with all this waiting we’ve been doing, it does feel like they will be releasing rejections later tonight.
i applied to UCB and UCLA, but denied because i wasnt a well rounded individual despite my communital work with rehabilitating convicted felons and working a full time job on top of 14 unit semesters. So this is my last chance will see what transpires today.
@Bltrn789 how do you know that was their reason behind your initial rejection? I’ve never heard of admissions give that as a reason for rejection.
You sound like a great candidate for several schools, did you get accepted anywhere else?
@ricardomata83 UCB won’t give you the reason but if you call UCLA they will. You have to ask them the reason for your denial or sometimes you can contact an admission counselor and ask. It helps to know the reason if you want to appeal so they will often tell you a general reason.
@Bltrn789 I know how you feel. I’m in the same boat as you. It’s tough. Seriously crossing fingers. I wish they would do in person interviews sometimes. I feel that some people are better in person than on paper.
I God denied with 3.92 GPA because of discrepancy between my application and doscuments and I was not aware of that until I got denied.
I feel that they are going to reject me as well today.
It seems that I have to go to USD for nueroscience.
@Sety_sety If it’s a discrepancy and your grades are better then I think that’s a solid case. If your grades are worse, then they might have interpreted it in a negative way.
Are you sure that they will released the answers today?
I have no clue. I didn’t speak to any admission officers recently. When I made the comment earlier it was in reference to something else.
It was a compelecated case. I had some transcript from another country and evaluated the grades in wrong way. I am glad that I have already registered somewhere else.
I’ve already lost hope for UCLA
@ricardomata83 as @Oldngray said they do give you the reason why UCLA didnt accept you if you call and ask the reasoning behind their decision. Futhermore i guess it just comes with the territory maybe i should have listen to my gf grandfather and applied to become a Trojan. If anything next year ill apply to USC, because CSUN is an okay school, but frankly in this world what counts is the name on top of that degree, and not matter if you graduated top of your class in CSUN, they would rather choose someone from UCLA that did the bear minimum to graduate over you because of the name.
Well, some waitlist students haven’t even heard back yet. So maybe we aren’t hearing back today?
Who knows…
I’m about ready to just say F-it.
@Bltrn789 you’re right about the UCLA/USC brand, but remember there is always grad school to add prestige to your background. (if those are your plans.)
@Bltrn789 You’re absolutely right and it unfortunately creates all this pressure for the people applying to get into one school. Sometimes, I wonder how many people actually want to go to a particular school or if the academics or even better or of it’s all about the prestige. Not saying either decision is wrong or right just saying that sometimes people have to make tough decisions because they are worried about being competitive in the job field. It’s getting harder and harder to get into colleges, especially for instate students.
You said you were going to transfer- are you a junior transfer? I didn’t know you could still apply to transfer if you’re already coming form a CCC, then going to a state. Wouldn’t that make you a senior in standing?
@ricardomata83 it very difficult to go from Cal state University to an IVY league school for law. So with that brand name you have greater chance in being accepted, than just applying from a Cal State again sadly its all about the name.
@Oldngray well honestly i never thought about it that way, i am transferring from a CCC with 4 Associate Degrees but transfering with a major in Sociology. Also an interesting thing i noticed i dont know if you guys have taken a look at the statistics for UCLA acceptance the current major that seems to always accept all its applicants is Undecided i wonder why and the average GPA is 3.30
