UCLA Transfer decisions out April 19th!

@kay1541 Oh cool, are you another art history major? I never thought I’d find another one here, haha! (If I may ask, any specialization or emphasis?)

And thank you, the encouragement is very much appreciated! :'D I hope you get in too!

@pandapolly

I am also an art history major. I am either looking to specialize in either Classical art or modern art with gender studies :slight_smile: How about yourself?

All of us art history majors are lurking around here, sitting back and criticizing the decor.

I think you have an above-average shot with a 3.5, especially if your major classes are strong. I think the avg admit GPA is around 3.65 for t/x students.

@Bruinhearted
I’m digging the colors!!! Lol
But thank you :)!!

@kay1541 Sweet! I’m thinking of going into religious art. I’m not religious myself but I love observing dramatic art of religious or mythological stories!

@zimzam Ooh, another art history major has appeared? Fantastic! Haha the decor could use some work but it’s just fine… for now. Hehehe… And thank you as well for the encouragement! You guys help me keep my head up!

@pandapolly
I love religious art and religious history too! Although right now I’m so nervous about application I can’t really think about ANYTHING ELSE!. I was pretty confident but this delay is making me so nervous and lose every shred of confidence I had.

@kay1541 Same here… I already got accepted to UC Riverside (as an Art History/Religious Studies major) so I was feeling pretty confident but now I’m noticing all the things I’m missing that other transfers have like TAG/TAP and strong ECs. What’s your GPA though? You’re probably more of a shoe-in for UCLA than me haha.

@arthistorynerds

Religious art is fun, a lot to be learned there, especially ways to deconstruct sensational sectarianism running rampant in contemporary society.

@zimzam idk why but I just imagined you saying that in a British accent lmao!!

@pandapolly. My stats are

GPA: 3.72
Major GPA: 3.75
Pre-req completed (more art history classes than required)
IGETC completed
TAP Certified

I don’t have too much ECs
I had an internship at a political campaign
I’m also a member of my schools ASO’s fine arts division
and other miscellaneous activities

So far I’ve gotten into UCI, UCSD, and UCSB
I’m so worried about my major GPA. I got a B in my African art class because the instructor had a thing out for me :(

@ zimzam

Definitely! Considering there is so much violence going on due to sectarianism :(

@alevy

I can fake a pretty good British accent when necessary =)

@kay1541 I see a real opportunity for art history to counter much of the Islamophobia undertow. Much like Rauschenberg’s cultural exchange with China, I think the arts have inherent power suitable for politics, though often untapped as people drool over auction markets and Hirst-like ilk & nonsense.

first time posting on this thread but as of now I can log into myUCLA and when I try to access ursa it prompts me to choose a ucla email. Previously I just got the main menu. Does this mean I’m in/has anyone else experienced this?

@zimzam

Arts definitely do. Unfortunately, the Islamophobia is getting to deeply imbedded. When constantly socialization tells people that Muslims are violent or terrorists, it is extremely difficult to think outside of the stereotypical box. Especially when general consensus does not get appalled by this wrongful stereotypes.

no. it just means you did the summer trick. here are the true indicators:

you can see your financial aid summary on URSA

your major shows up on MyUCLA for a day and then switches to a completely blank bar. (as opposed to it saying summer session student)

I can’t see any of those messages does that mean I didn’t get in :(?

It still says summer session! I am freaking out

relax. no one can see them except for engineering/art majors. if you get in, they will pop up at the end of this week.

So no life science majors has been able to see it yet? Thank you so much @heatzz i was about to have a panic attack
