My major
Geology/Paleobioligy

Applied 1

Average GPA of applicant 2.64

Oh yeah it looking promising. ;:

highschoolda,

I haven't been reading this board recently, but I recalled that you were a Bio or Chem major right? And that you were debating whether or not you should change your major to Geology. So did you finally decide on Geology/Paleobioligy permanently? Or still confused? Just curious.

But I hope you came to a conclusion because I know how it feels (and I am sure a lot of us here from community colleges as well) when you do not know what set major to pick or debating between two or three different majors. It's difficult for transfer students because the VERY second we enter the junior college phase after high school or whatever, we are forced to pick a major ASAP so we could quickly start and complete our major prep courses, otherwise our departure from the junior college stage in hopes of transferring will be delayed for a longer period of time (which we do not want of course). Much stress and trust me, I know of it. Wish you the best of luck on deciding what to do if you are still debating.

Apple,
yeah i switched to geology/Paleobioligy mostly b/c i heard i can switch to Chem or biochem as long as i can finish the degree within a certain unit amount, which i will be able to do.

I am concerned that i don't have an earth science and bio done yet, but counselors told me it's ok if they see that i plan to to take, and they will look at my fall class grades. ALso don't know what to think about nobody being admitted and one person applying. :)

I have a career goal of becoming a Pharmacist, which requires grad school. SO my initial major doesn't matter, but i would actually prefer a degree in chem, b/c i can always get a job in a lab or teach HS, and be able to make decent salary. Something to fall back on.

I am very limited financially, so attending UCLA and living at home is by far the best option.

(I think UCLA misspelled that word) I have Paleo- mean primitive, early. I don't think bioligy is word, proly mean biology. But most have heard of paleontology, not peleobilogy)

hey highschoolda!

Yeah, I also thought that you were a Chem major. I also thought you'd be starting at UCLA this Fall. Anyway, your GPA is similar to mine so why all the worry? In fact, I think your GPA is higher than mine and you probably have a better GPA trend too. Have confidence! I'm sure you'll get in as a Chem major.

why doesn't it have the stats for the business school????

suzzie, U're right i was a chem major till the summer started.... I wanted to take biology classes(Pharm requirements) instead of multivariable calc an Differential calc next year, which i couldn't do being a chem major.... So i felt i had poor chance at UCLA w/ Biochem major or Bio major, and i would not have calc prereqs for chem major. SO yeah i decided to switch to paleo/geology and take that extra earch science class and also b/c i got a confirmation from two people that i could make the switch.... I'll tell u next May how It'll turn out... :) Other than financial reasons, I wouldn't mind moving to SD or SB, it would encourage me to finish my degree earlier and expirience life on my own w/ out anyone telling me what to do...

answer my question

The business school is a graduate level school. These are stats for undergraduate programs. However, the business economics major located in the economics department of the school of letters and sciences has an acceptance rate of about 20%.

haha, my major had 0% acceptance rate

were you accepted or did you just apply?

how can you apply if the transfer addmission criteria states that you need at least a 3.2 gpa in transferable courses?

Iamapprehensive,

NO i didn't apply. Also I know some people who got in w/ 3.1s.

N+My current GPA is 3.5 and i am applying for Fall 2006.

oh sorry i understand your post now. when we apply to transfer since the deadline is before the end of the fall semester and before the spring semester. how do they take the fall semester gpa into consideration?

You are asked to update the application form with your fall grades in February.

WOW ucla accepted FORTY PERCENT OF ITS TRANSFER APPS???? what???? i thought it was more selective than that.

It;s like 23% for HS.

As I remember, I think it was something like 28% this year for freshman.
