This is my first semester at a california community college, Fresno City College. I will get at the end of the semester a B in english 1a, B in chem 1a, c in bio 11a, and a d in math 5a. If I retake the math 5a class the next semester will ucla still consider me for a bio major transfer. This is because this semester my grandpa died and i have been really depressed and not able to study. I am planning on signing a tag with ucsd as a fall-back plan.. but I have always wanted to go to ucla. is there anything i can do like a program that will help me?

Hey man, check out this thread. There’s a discussion on this here: [Ask A Question! | UC Transfer FAQ](http://uctransferfaq.com/?p=170)

Goodluck.

as long as you retake the math class and get a better grade, you should be fine. And as for programs, you can try TAP if you want to go to UCLA

UCLA TAP is the only thing that can save u bud. And good grades from here on out

thanks a lot everyone that answered. My community college does not offer tap. is there anything that i could do to help me though? I am joining a research group to try and greater my chances. My main goal is to go to medical school, does this one bad grade basically end my chances at a medical school in california?

I am a physician who graduated from Drexel University School of Medicine and my impression is they will not be too bothered by the math grade since any math you encounter in medical school is going to be pretty elementary. However, they will not like the C in Biology since Biology is central to everything you study in medical school. I know that you can not repeat a course if you get a C in it so you have to get an A in every Biology course you take from now on to be competitive for medical school admission.
