Hello friends,
I am considering transferring to a UC from an out of state university due to various reasons, and UCLA is one of my choices. I wanted to ask those of you who got accepted to UCLA (fall transfers) what your Freshman year AND sophomore year (first semester/ quarter) grades were, since they consider both when reviewing your application.
What else do they take into consideration?
Thanks in advance.
I’m a pre-psych major.
Summer 2013 - Summer 2014 GPA 3.67
Fall 2014 GPA 3.8
They also consider your ECs and personal statement.
Edit: also for future reference, it is best to post in one place OR make a new thread. NOT both. It tends to clutter, and the info you need is not being answered in one place.
@luckie1367 where did you go to school? CC? and did you get 3.67 for both semesters/quarters of your freshman year or is that your average?
congrats :))
I got straight A’s. So 4.0 for all semesters.
@onmyway8 Nice! I did horribly my freshman year at my private university…but I know I will do better this fall 2015, so I really hope they notice my improvement and don’t focus too much on my freshman year grades…
All A’s except two courses. I received a B in those two courses and they were major prep courses.
how were your sophomore year grades? @LuckyName . Do you think it’s possible for me to get in even though I had a low 3.2 freshman year?? i know i can bring it up to a 3.7 at least my sophomore year this fall, which they will consider…hopefully…
CCC’s get admitted first, then Cal States, then OOS (at full fees). They take California community college students into consideration first.
No scholarships for OOS students so if you can pay $55k per year, you may consider transferring in.
3.67 was the average for the time period listed, and I attended SMC which is a community college
It also really depends on your major. I’m a communication studies major, so I HAD to have a super high GPA to get in. Some majors only require like, a 3.5.
OP look at this profile under specific majors. Those are the GPAs you need to aim for:

@calilove77 my sophomore year was the same as my freshman year. One B was during my freshman fall year and the second B was during my sophomore fall year.
Thanks guys
so i called admissions today and they said even though extracurriculars and personal statement are a part of the transfer application, they aren’t important at all… is that true?
They’re nowhere near as important as your GPA.
