How hard would it be to transfer into UCLA? I’m originally from California but I went out east this past year to a private school mostly for D3 sports. As my first year is coming to a close, I kind of want to transfer back home for my sophmore year and onward.
Obviously I would have to see what credits would be transferable, but how hard do you think it would be to get in? My GPA freshman year is a 3.97 (not sure if that matters) with 30 credits. I’m not sure if being an actual CA resident will have an impact… My major is business management.
If anyone could give me some insight or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
UC’s only accept Junior level transfers with 60 semester or 90 quarter units. If you want to transfer to UCLA, you should attend a CA CC for another year such as Santa Monica City College (SMCC) and do TAP. Here is more info: http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/tap/
Is this an out of state private school? Either way, I’d highly recommend going to CCC - California Community College - your second year and transferring from there.
One reason is that it’s much easier (UCs have spots reserved for community college students), and in general it’s tougher for OOS students to get into UCs as transfers (which is why I asked about your current school). If you’re serious about UCLA, definitely definitely go to a CC! With your really good GPA I’m sure you’ll do excellent at CC too, plus you’ll save a hella lot of money
Yes, I’m currently at an out of state private school. UCLA was my top pick in school but I went out east for D3 basketball. Does the Cal state system work the same way only accepting junior level transfers?
