UCLA transfers

I recently got admitted to UCLA for EE with a 3.4, but I'm very worried that my gpa for spring is going to affect my my admission. I took 21 units(all major-related) this spring and I'm quite sure that I'll end up with a 2.7 gpa out of it.

Does anyone know if this is signifcant enough to revoke my admission? UCLA is my dream school and if this does in fact prevent me from going, I' don't really know what else I can do .

I think that if you fall below their average GPA, they probably will revoke your admission......on grounds that these are your major courses and on the grounds that the Provisional Admission states that your GPA can not take a nosedive......

Let's hope that doesn't happen......you can always apply next year.

Yeah Michelle said it you can apply next year. Your back is pretty much against the wall because you can't drop courses in your major and you must maintain or exceed your reported gpa. Work your butt off with those 21 units because a drop in your academic performance as stated in the provisional admissions contract means is grounds for your admission offer being withdrawn. Remember we were all admitted provisionally to UCLA and our admission is not final until this semester is over and we submit our transcripts which include all of our courses we reported as in progress. Believe me if you can't carry your weight UCLA will not hesitate in cutting people because they admitted you based on the info you reported (when you reported your major courses in progress you were admitted witht the assumption that you would complete those courses all the while maintaining your gpa) EE is a tough major and I can only imagine what your'e going through this semester but then again you shouln't have been so impatient and applied next year. That is the worst thing you can do (rush to finish). Good luck but if they do reject you because of that just apply next year if you were good enough to get in you'll be good enough to get in next year.

Make sure to get in touch with admissions before you make any decisions. The best thing to do is to talk to people who actually have the power to change things, and the knowledge you need to avoid changes.

What is tantamount, however, is that you work your butt off and try to keep that GPA up.

I honestly don't believe its quite as big as of a deal as what is listed above.

I had to recently report changes in my schedule due the fact I scheduled my last quarter classes after the app update was sent in and so I did lots of research on this and communicated with some admistrators about this.

What is mandatory is that you pass all your classes with a C or better. If you get a D or F then you have a problem. This problem becomes much worse if the D or F is in a major prep or transfer requirement class.

What I was told was that since I had plenty of units, all I needed to do was pass my Calc class with a C or better. I am taking two other "major" classes which they seemed to care less about.

However, what you now have basically done is sat yourself at the front of the line if they feel they are over enrolled and need to cut back on new admits.

I however would follow the advice above, work your butt off and contact some adminstrators over at UCLA. This two things are not going to hurt you and they just might save you.

Hi, I'm a bio scie major and I got into UCLA for fall 2006 as transfer student. But I dropped my history class and having problem to report the change using their online Transfer Provisional Problem Form. I followed the instruction to check the box next to the class dropped and also included an explanation in the comment's section. But when I tried to submit it, it won't let me and says "you entered course units without specifying course name." I was so confused . Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Please help me. And do you think they would cancel my admission because I dropped the history class?
Thank You,

Hey I have been accepted into UCLA based on my necessary 60 units-i have completed all the needed courses. My GPA is pretty high and I have already sent in my transcripts but I am taking one computer course for fun this last semester before I take off to LA. Only thing is: I don't think I am doing well in it!! Since I am required to send off a final copy of transcripts by July 15 does anyone know if I can get away with just not sending the transcripts of this last course in??? After all I am only taking it for fun.

No, you cannot do that, tetsuo. Your transcript must include spring.

what if they don't know if I'm taking it...? If I just don't report the 'for fun' class, what are they gonna do, look it up and find out at the cc?? Besides, I heard when you transfer over 60 units a lot of ucs frown upon that sort of thing anyway...

If all your units are from CA community colleges, they certainly do not.

i have the same problem. im an economics major but im getting a C in my final grade for calculas class. is there a chance they will withdraw my admissions? im taking 6 classes too...3 of which are honors.

rita_blue,

Highly unlikely. But, if you are a fan of erring on the side of caution, email admissions and take it up with them.

what is EE?

i think u might need to maintain a 3.0 ... so update us , what happened?

Are any of you doing the UCLA Transfer Summer Program?

I am doing it
