So I'm gonna be in a triple my freshman year at UCLA. But I was just wondering, in your guys' opinion, which bed is the best in a triple? The bottom bunk, the top bunk, or the top bunk with the desk underneath? Why?

I would say either the bottom bunk or the top bunk with the desk underneath.

I like the bottom bunk because you can basically use your bed as a comfortable chair and lounge whenever, where as with the bunks you have to climb. The top bunks kinda suck because you have to climb up whenever you’re there - I do it once a day - once up and once down.

I heard some people complaining about people sitting on their bed all the time when they get the bottom one. personally, i would still get the bottom because you can just roll out of bed and jump in really fast. Trying to get to the top one when youre drunk sounds all bad LOL

I like bottom bunk because my desk is right next to it (my building has triples laid out differently), so I can roll out of bed right into my desk or out the door. The next bed I would go for is the loft because I would have my own little corner, and the top bunk has neither of the mentioned benefits. As for bottom bunk being the room couch, it’s pretty true but I try to make my bed every morning, so I don’t care too much as long as people don’t mess up my bed.

Loft all the way. I’m not a fan of having people come sit on my bed so IMO it’s worth having to climb up for it every night (hey, exercise is exercise :P). Also, a cautionary tale against going for the bottom: One of my former suitemates had the bottom bunk and um…her roommate who slept up top liked to have company over at night and…let’s just say that lots of movement made it difficult for my friend to sleep at night. Actually it made the situation very awkward for two of the three suitemates in the room since this happened fairly often.

I like the loft best as well. You have more of a feeling of privacy than on either of the bunks.

Watch out for the beds with the metal frames. They’re creaky and the mattress sinks in down the middle. The loft always has a wooden frame, so if you have a choice take that one.
