[UCLA, UCB, CMU, MIT] I am confused.

I've been lurking for a little while to get an idea of what schools I should apply to, but I'm more confused now than I was when I started. I'm most interested in UCLA and initially thought I had a pretty good chance, but after seeing some of the competition here, I'm not so sure. I'm also interested in UCB, UCI, UCSD, MIT, & CMU for computer engineering or computer science.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

THe people on this site all either lie or are freaks. If you are in california then you have a 99.8 % chance of getting into berkeley and ucla. Even if you are out of state you have an excellent chance. Dont worry, you will get into atleast one of ucla, ucb, cmu or mit. You should also apply to stanford because it is also one of the top cs schools.

ucla average sat is 2010 and average uc gpa is about 4.15
berkeley average sat is 2050 anad average uc gpa is 4.14
those are for instate but as you can see you are well above average.

I’m not sure if your shot at MIT is decent but if you get in, then pack your things and go. Otherwise, Berkeley is it and I think you do have a good chance at berkeley, so go for it. Berkeley eng’g is significantly better than UCLA’s. Berkeley is a solid top 3 school for engineering. UCLA or CMU or Cornell are in the next league to Berkeley’s.

mccormickt12, the averages for Berkeley is 2080 and 4.39. I have no idea about UCLA’s, but I think they don’t really fall behind.
