Hello, I have a question about the Communication Studies program at UCLA, UCSD, UCSB and CSUF. I am applying to UCLA, but I obviously need a backup. I visited UCSD and, to be honest, I wasn't very impressed. I just didn't feel anything when I was there and I don't know if I can see myself going to that school. Cal State Fullerton is close to my house, so it would be the obvious choice. Does anyone know anything about the reputation of their Comm program? One of my speech professors told me that it is ranked #2 in CA after USC. I doubted her statement and later found out that she did her undergrad and grad at CSUF, so she is clearly biased. I haven't visited UCSB yet, but it would be last on my list since I live in OC and would have to commute to school. Can anyone offer some insight? I'm really going nuts over this and I have to make a decision soon. Thanks!

I've heard the same about Cal State Fullerton- that it has a strong Communication program. But I've never visited so I can't say to what extent.

I did apply to UCLA and my best advice to you is to finish your pre-requisites as soon as possible and with straight A's. All the best. :)

I'm too lazy to make a new thread so I thought I ask my question in this thread since it kind of relates but more specifically to UCLA's film, media, and communications minor.

If I intend to apply as a Political Science major, what do I have to do to get into the UCLA film, media/comm minor? Or do I have to become a UCLA student first before I can apply to minor in that?

Hi Woman.Of.Troy, I've been reading your posts. Congrats on USC! My stats are pretty similar to yours, so I'm pretty scared that I won't get in. In fact, my GPA will be 3.85 at the end of Fall semester if I get an A in all of my classes. I'm beginning to think that UCLA isn't for me. I just don't think my chances are very good. I'm leaning toward CSUF, to be honest. At least I can double major in Film there (impossible at UCLA). Thanks UCLA Band Mom, that was quite helpful. :-)
