I got accepted into UCLA, NYU, Boston University, and Boston College, and I’m trying to decide between these four which one of them has the best bio/pre-med program? I’ve heard the UCLA is the best for STEM majors, but Boston College seems to be more famous for producing successful doctors? Please help get more information on these schools bc I don’t really trust the online rankings, thank you!!
Check on any known grade inflation/deflation tendencies. Remember that med school is expensive so keep the cost in mind as well.
If you want to go pre-med then think about:
- The cheapest reasonable college so you/your parents can use the money for med school
- The college needs to prepare you for MCATs but still allow you to get a good GPA
- Access to volunteering opportunities (e.g., near a hospital)
- Success in graduates getting into med school
- Options if you don’t go to med school
Also for NYU, read this: https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/08/the-expensive-romance-of-nyu/278904/
Any of these schools will prepare you well for medschool…which is affordable?
go to the cheapest, they are all pretty highly regarded.
All the schools are similar in prestige and urban location, but as others have mentioned, you should look to go to the cheapest option since med school is hella expensive.
