I know it looks like a stupid question, but I am really into the education of small colleges rather than that of big universities. Here is the problem, UCLA ranks much higher than FMC, even they are in two different ranks; however, FMC has much better class size and Student-Faculty Ratio, and professors in FMC are incredibly accessible. Moreover, FMC has really good Biology and Chemistry education but UCLA seems good at every major. Which one is better?

F&M has a good reputation in general and in the sciences in particular. If you prefer small colleges, I don’t think you’re at all harming your prospects by choosing it over UCLA.

You may want to consider location in addition to size. A friend of mine from Boston attended F&M; he loved the college but hated Lancaster. A big city like LA likewise isn’t for everyone.

Does F&M have better reputation than UCLA? I am an international student and which college I graduated from really matters in my country. Many people compare UCLA with UCB and other good universities, like University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, so does it mean that UCLA is better? I have only seen people compare F&M with schools like Purdue University, Northeastern University, University of Richmond, College of Holy Cross and so on. I am really confused.
