Intended Major: Econ / Pol Sci/Policy
UCLA
Pros
The overall college environment and feel
The creative environment, clubs, campus life
The freedom in terms of courses and other options
Cons
Double the cost of McGill (but if worth it, my parents are willing to spend)
As an international, it will most probably be difficult to sustain a job due to visa difficulties
McGill
Pros
Relatively Cheaper
Seems to have a good reputation for Post Grad unis ( I would love to know more on this for UCLA)
Working for 1 year will qualify me for Permanent Residency in Canada
Cons
The environment seems very alien to me since no one I know/ anyone in the history of my high school has ever attended
It has a huge grade deflation policy and very rigorous academics
I would love to know more about both schools and which one would ultimately make sense, not only practically but also in terms of the ultimate college experience. I know UCLA just seems way more fun on the outside but I still want to make sure I am making a practical decision for the future and if I get my money’s worth at the end of the day.
Right now my heart says UCLA but my mind and my logic say McGill, so that’s basically my confusion.
