UCLA vs. USC in selectivity for OOS

I've been reading on USC threads that USC is starting to have greater averages as far as both GPA and SAT scores go. My theory for this discrepancy is because UCLA accepts a ton of instaters, which have lower averages, thus causing the scores to take a dip in overall average. Is true, or is USC truely becoming an elite school with very low acceptance rates? Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help,
CL8

PS, please evaluate my chances in the other thread started by me if u haven't already.

first of all, take a look at UCLA's avg. for accepted students and tell me how low it is. second, it is easier to get into USC (instate or OOS) than it is to get into UCLA (if you're looking at just averages).

CL8,

That argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Why would California in-staters have lower averages than say...Floridians?

Stanford accepts a ton of in-staters as well.

and so does UPenn...

Psh, who cares? That's a third rate Ivy!
