Quick question: what's UCLA's acceptance rate for out-of-state kids? (UCBerkeley's would be appreciated as well!)

UCLA: 25.30%
UCB: 20.17%

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2007

WOw UCLA holds higher acceptance rate for oos; now that I think about it, it makes sense - oos applicants often have higher stat plus there arent that many of them.

^^ exactly. The fact that the OOS applicant pool is much more self-selective yet has virtually the same acceptance rate as in-state speaks to the difficulty of getting into UCLA OOS (though, oddly enough, UCLA's CDS says in-state residency is "not considered," whereas Berkeley places it as "very important," on par with GPA, rigor of course load, and essays).

There is no published data about the stats of OOS students! All we have are Regents scholars, braggart OOS students from Alaska and Hawai'i, and that random Singaporean with egregiously grade-inflated grades that parallel that of CA's best AP students. Take that, hyperbole and stick it up your fat, Honors Collegium a$$!

Obviously it's harder to get in oos... does anyone know or has some estimate of what the average SAT/GPA is for oos??

Obviously... obviously... obviously you have nothing backing your claims.

ahhh: From the people I've talked to there, they say that their OOS friends at UCLA tend to have SATs in the 2200s, and 3.9 uw GPAs or higher. My brother's OOS friends at Cal have scores in the 2250s and up, with similar GPAs. But keep in mind that that is just a small sampling of the students. Some probably come slightly lower, and many much higher.

for out of state, does any one know if the california schools count school based honors courses as honors, or do they just weigh AP classes?

When you're out of state, you just tell them all of your classes are honor/AP and let them figure it out.

Thankk you!!
