Despite my poorly written paragraph… rents might be high in surrounding areas, but there are many more dorms on campus now.

@drax12 thank you i hav already compared the majors’ reqs/courses countless times.i really do wish ucla had a major very sim to hcde. It seems like UCLA is your bias?
i’ve always wanted to be a designer so tbh I wanted to get into the UCLA DesignMediaArts program.
My main concern is how good will the job prospects be with said majors at UCLA vs hcde at UDub?I will save a more design/psych related major for grad school…

UCLA is my bias. I’m surprised you didn’t pick up on that before. ;)

I realize that your mind is already made up, so I’m just trying to elicit ucbalumnus’ opinion about the viability of Cog Science in fields related to CS … for self-edification in case something similar comes up here or with someone I might know. Neither am I trying to convince you. Best of Luck at Udub, great school.

I just noticed that it’s a capstone major, which sounds like fun.

As far as cognitive science majors going into computer jobs, it depends on the emphasis the student chooses, and the resulting elective course choices. More computer science courses as in-major or out-of-major electives can help if one is looking toward computer jobs. Of course, if the computer science major is full so that it is hard to get into, the computer science courses may also be hard to get into for non-majors.

Thanks for the info and response, ucb.
