UW(Seattle) Honors vs UCLA

Hey guys, so I was accepted to these two amazing schools. I'm currently torn about which school to go to. I get no financial aid from either schools besides the parent plus loan and stafford loans. UW for me is about $27k while UCLA is about $56k. I was at first for sure going to UW because I'm instate and was accepted to their honors program; however, after visiting UCLA for SEA Admit weekend(4 days 3 night), I totally fell in love with the campus and PEOPLE. I felt like home and family there with all the prospective students. I was accepted to UCLA as a psychobiology major but because UW doesn't have that major, I'm not sure what to major in.

So, what do you guys recommend? I plan on going to grad school, whether it's medical or not, so I will be loaning for a total of 8 years. I think UW will come to around like $110k after 4 years while UCLA is around $230k. UCLA, for some reason, is just so attractive to me, but then the financial aid kills me(I even went in person to talk to a fin aid officer). Do you think it's worth it for me to "YOLO" and head to LA? I mean I don't know too much about the UW Honors program but heard it's more of a nuisance than an opportunity. Also if I go to UW, what major is most similar to psychobiology?
Much thanks you guys!

Don’t do psychobiology. Its a fluff major, and your job prospects will be very poor with that background.

And don’t go to UCLA either. Paying out of state tuition for UCLA is a huge ripoff.

I wouldn’t say paying OOS tuition for UCLA is a huge ripoff. That’s what the education’s actually worth. The reason it’s so cheap for in-state is beause it’s subsidized by the state of california.

I brought a similar point up to one of my professors arguing that students would have little incentive to go to UCLA if the fees kept increasing. And he made the good point that UCLA is, in fact, one of the best universities in the world. That’s why people pay OOS tuition for it.

Sorry to shatter your dreams, but UCLA just isn’t financially feasable for you. There are plenty of horror stories of students taking out that much money in loans, and spend basically the entirety of their adult life in debt. You don’t want that. Google “NYU student loan debt.” if you want some proof.
