WARNING IM GONNA MATH AGAIN: so if only one out of the four engineers we have heard from are going, that’s only a 25% yield rate, below the estimated 35% of the whole university! So there must be SOME room for us engineers this year if this teeny tiny sample of people represents anything!
I hate to be that guy, but the stats nerd in me is coming out. Our sample size of 4 is way too small to make any generalizations. Also, our sample doesnt consist of randomly selected subjects, and because of this confounding variables will skew our results

i opted onto the wait list for mechanical engineering
also, someone mentioned no one got off the engineering wait list last year, what were ur sources? college confidential is too small of a sample size
does anyone know the actual stats or generalizations of people getting off the wait list for engineering?
and it seems like this year they’re putting more of an emphasis on EC’s essays and so on even for engineering, because my friend who has slightly lower stats than me got into ME

also for every other engineer that opted in, what major did you apply to?
@catswin one of my friends got in for aerospace and the other (who declined) got in for mechanical!
I also opted in for Mechanical so hopefully we can grab a few of those spots!
And I think I referenced last year’s bust with engineering but that was based purely off CC.
And I’m actually kind of glad they’re looking at ECs since mine got WAYYY stronger since applying so I’m crossing my fingers and praying!!

Guys keep in mind that UCLA accepts more people than they actually have spots for
@Prince111111 Yes, however not everyone will accept their offer. In fact, they know very accurately how many people will accept it, its called a yield.
For past two years they started rolling out waitlist acceptances on a Saturday so I think they’ll start on 30th this time
The equivalent of this Wednesday. Or basically tomorrow.
