UCLA Waitlists 2016

Nope nothing :frowning:

Still patiently waitingā€¦

@Mathwiz510 congrats on getting into UCSD AE! Iā€™m also waitlisted for AE at UCLA. Do you mind sharing your stats? Here are mine:

GPA: 3.75
EC: some volunteering
Essays: 7-8
Igetc: no

Hey, whatā€™s up! Thanks man. UCSD is actually my dream school and I wasnā€™t expecting to get into the Jacob School of Engineering. My GPA, I believe is way under the cut-off GPA for Aero at UCSD, so it is amazing that I made it.

Stats:

GPA:
During the time of application: 3.51
Right now: 3.58~3.59 (I got a 4.0 this semester but I donā€™t think it will be factored in with their waitlist review)

EC:

-3-time online NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar and a selected onsite participant to a NASA experienceā€¦ Worked on designing a Marā€™s Rover robot with NASA Engineers at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center and the NASA Pamdale Aero Institute. My role was an operational engineer.

-Volunteered at the Ohlone Humane Wildlife Rehab Center. Treated injured and orphaned wildlife and released them back into the wild when they are healthy. Something not aerospace related but I mentioned how I could be different from an engineering kid (my interest in being a different person and learning to serve my community).

-Volunteered at food pantry organizations.

-Math Embedded Tutor and Math Tutor at my current college

-Treasurer of my collegeā€™s student government.
-Secretary of the Ohlone Engineering Club and Math Club. Participated in the SMUD Northern Region Solar Regatta Championship. Ohlone finished second place overall.

Essays: I donā€™t rate my own essays since I wrote it from my heart but I say since I got waitlisted and have a GPA thatā€™s not as high as most engineering applicants, I say itā€™s around a 7 to 9. If it was a lower value, I probably would have been flat-out rejected.

IGETC: Nope, not even partial :stuck_out_tongue:

Transfer Predictions:
UCSD: 60% I will head here. 40% to LA depending if admitted

Also a recipient of a mathematics scholarship at my CC, but that was after the deadline for the opt-in waitlist.

Major: Psychology
GPA:3.83

Still not hear anything from UCLA.

I chose uc Irvine over ucsd lol.

@Mathwiz510 Wow! those are some solid stats. Iā€™m a little iffy on being waitlisted for AE because they have 76% yield rate for that major. I hope we both get in but if not, you still have an amazing school as a safety net.

@ItsAPotato Doesnā€™t matter where we both end up right? haha. UCSD and UCLA are both great choices for engineering. I wished UCSB had an aerospace engineering program. Would have definitely picked SB over SD but idk about over LA lol. What is your safety school? If we both make it into LA AE, Iā€™m down to meet you and study AE with you!

@Mathwiz510 I SIRā€™d to SB but for Mech Eng. I wouldā€™ve definitely preferred AE but UCSD only accepted me as undeclared. For me I actually would have chosen SD over SB haha.

I hope this wait-list thing works out for both of us and yeah Iā€™m down to do a study group especially with the cutthroat competitive atmosphere at LA.

@ItsAPotato
Here are some statistics for our major:
http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/seasoasa/UCEE-Report-2015_2_27.pdf

There is like a 20% admit rate for AE transfers. Lets hope for the best!

I visited UCSB like a year ago. I loved the beauty of the school. Absolutely a breathtaking environment to study in.

Looks like applications for AE transfers have been going down the last 3 years while the admit rate is going up. Lets hope we both get in this summer!

@ItsAPotato I just called admissions again and they said they planned on notifying the engineering waitlist applicants before the June 15th deadline for guarantee housing. I brought up the June 15th thing just to make sure they are aware of those who planned on living on campus. The admission officer said she is aware of it. Hopefully this means we will get to hear back soon and not have to wait till like July 2 or 3. The past two years have been like that for UCLA transfer waitlist applicants.

She also suggested that we SIRā€™d to another campus or school since getting into the engineering department especially MAE, is very competitive and only a few are admitted. She could not provide me any statistics.

@Mathwiz510 I called as well right now but the lady was not able to provide me with much information. She said that the waitlist decisions could be coming out till as late as mid-July, and they have no set date for releasing the decisions. I feel like mid-July is a stretch though but she did not want to provide me with any date.

Hello guys! I just signed up my account today to join this discussion. My major is biz econ, and this waiting is killing me. I hope we will not wait until july to know we are rejected like last year. Anyone for biz econ?

@Alex00001 Hey, what r your stats?

@Mathwiz510 Thatā€™s good to hear. I wonder if they will let us know if we donā€™t get in the wait-list by that day as well.

@Immensethinker24 You mean my GPA? 3.96; I got one B. I also got denied by UC Berkeley. So, UCLA is really my last chance. How about you?

@Mathwiz510 Thank you for the information. Hope they are right.

I was looking up last years thread and it was more active than this one. Also there were a lot of people getting accepted. I am wondering if this year they have less people on waitlist? Anybody got accepted yet?

@alex0001 Same exact GPA here, got denied to HAAS, waiting for UCLA. Hope we both get in. I got into UCSD tho
