UCONN 2026 Admissions

Did your son get into honors program?

My D was 1st in class her whole time throughout hs and Valadictorian of her large public HS (in-state), they gave her just 7500 scholarship for acedemic excellence. She ultimately chose another institution. Then 2 days before the May 1 deadline (on a saturday no less, with no mail Sundays), UConn sent the presidential scholarship offer in snail mail. Unreal
By then it was too late, she already chose and paid deposit on other school. I believe they need final class rank that schools calculate after Q3. My advice- wait to accept the lower offer until May 1 in case the better one does come.

My daughter got waitlisted
does anyone know if she can still get merit if they accept her later on? (We are OOS so full price would be ridiculous)

Yes - it would say admitted to “School of Business” if she was

We are OOS, My S got in and no merit. Crossed it off the list.

Did anyone not list a 2nd choice campus after Storrs when applying but get admitted to another campus? My (in-state) child only applied to Storrs (did not list another location), got admitted to another location, rather than 2nd choice major which all seems odd. They would like to appeal but not sure if worth it.

This is unfortunately common. You can appeal but unfortunately you likely won’t hear back from UCONN until after May 1 when they know how many kids have enrolled @ Storrs.

super duper common and apparently appeals are extremely rarely accepted. but your kid should do it just b/c you never know. This year was weird
VERY few kids from our HS (in state) were accepted to Storrs. Most branched and it was the lowest % accepted ever for a very top school in the state. They will give Storrs to OOS before in state unfortunately. good luck

Thank you. I figured it was common but thought since they didn’t even LIST a 2nd location they’d maybe get their 2nd choice major. So messed up.

Thank you. So frustrating especially since it’s the only large in-state school option. Thankfully my child was accepted to a lot of other schools they like if not more but still so crazy. How did you know your school stats for this year? Did they publish? Just curious.

No they didn’t. Kids heard from teachers

Ohh that’s interesting, thanks! I wonder what info they get from UConn. Only info we can see in Naviance is the year after and it doesn’t breakdown how many kids didn’t get Storrs. I think all acceptances are pooled together.

not sure
but I will say I think Naviance only shows (at this point) the acceptances which the kids have either a.) told the school counselors they got in or b.) updated their Naviance. My kid has 5 acceptances and only one has he updated. The rest just show submitted. So in other words, it’s not accurate at all at this point. It’s incredibly frustrating to have a state school so inaccessible to good students. But I’m seeing that at others here on CC so maybe it’s not just a CT issue. This year is awful overall

The only other state that I have heard with similar issues is Pennsylvania with Penn State. Well issues as far as sending kids to other locations. Of course picking out of state kids over in state kids is a whole other issue too.

Hello! My OOS daughter was waitlisted for Storrs. Any clue about when they’ve offered any waitlist spots in prior years? Hopeful to know something definite prior to 5/1 but may wishful thinking.

Nope, but he was not really interested in what the honors program offered.

Did anyone get accepted to the BSN program?
