UConn Admissions Decisions

Nothing yet, status still reads application received November 6, 2013 and decision will be posted here when available. I am keeping fingers crossed as she got into University of Maryland College Park which I understand is a tad more difficult than UConn.
GPA: 4.6, SAT: 1880

Corkymom - are you in-state or OOS?

In state. And she has taken 5 UConn AP ECE classes already, all for full UConn credits. Still scratching my head on this one…

Just read through several posts - seems that UConn puts a lot of emphasis on SAT/ACT testing scores… also: a couple of days before getting the acceptance letter in the mail, I also noticed that I had the option to pay the $150 admission deposit, although the portal still only said “decision will be posted here…”. I think if you can see that, it does mean there’s an acceptance letter on the way.

@Corkymom when did your daughter submit her application?

Has anyone been admitted with a Computer Science major?

I see that there has been some talk about UCONN and scholarship… All I can say is it’s like pulling teeth. UCONN is getting 30k in kids applying, they just got a 1B$$ grant and there pocks are tight, they don’t really need to roll out the $$. My older DS is in his 2yr, and I know of several kids with some really impressive stats that did not get anything. If your No.1 or 2 in you class you should get something; however, the SAT and ACT will play part in that. A big reason why UCONN does not have to offer much is because of the 30k in applications. Plenty will not accept and they have plenty to go after in the end. As parents we love the school, as a student my son made it smaller and enjoys his experience.

In the end if your accepted and take the offer great, enjoy your stay. If your not accepted no worries college will be what you make of it.

Corkymom stop scratching clearly your D is a steller student with a 1900 & a 4.3. UCONN’s loss and U Del’s gain! My son (in-state) has already withdrew from UCONN, he will also attend an OOS school with scholarships. In the end less than UCONN and still a respectful University in the SEC.

Reenski, There was a piece recently written on the top 25 public and UCONN bumped the University of Maryland College Park down. I know a fathers who has a son that is a Terp and one at UCONN. He said that UCONN and College Park are =. Two very good schools. The only diff. is UCONN is in the woods and College Park, well not really in the woods.

All the best to these kids. Some upfront dreams will be crushed but one week into there B or C plan and all will fall into place. The home sickness will fade, new relationships will be made and the Thanksgiving football games will be a quick reminder that they do not miss HS.

@uconnfan27 No, she did not get into honors but she did get a small merit scholarship.
@barbnbrian She received her acceptance via regular mail on Saturday. We are in state

My D applied to the Nursing program and got a phone call from a UCONN nursing student last week asking if she had any questions. Very confusing since she did not receive an acceptance letter yet and still has not to date. She has a 3.7 GPA and 2240 SAT’s. My D received nice amount of merit money from another private University. It will be interesting to see what UCONN offers if anything.

Finally got my acceptance letter!! Yay! I got accepted as a biology major with an Academic Excellence Scholarship of $15000. I’m an out of state student, so that really surprised me.Anyone hear back for the DDS program??

My son received his letter today as well. Engineering, Honors Scholar, Academic Excellence Scholarship, Out of State.

Hello! Quick question, if it states that my decision will come in a few days, but, there is no option to deposit money… does this mean I am rejected? Thank you!

@mserlin03 would you mind posting your stats? I’m (hopefully) a bio major too and I just want to get a better idea of my acceptance/merit chances

@OMGGreenPanda i have that too… i think i was rejected

My son’s says Congratulations and tells him he can secure a spot but there is no option to pay. Humm…

@wewsy are sure there’s no option?

No change in status or wording of status for both my daughters…oh well not looking good

where is it? He presses on check status and has the "if you have received your acceptance by mail, Congratulations. Then they invite him to pay but…

Admission decisions will be sent by mail over the next few weeks. If you have received an acceptance notification by mail, congratulations! We welcome you to secure your place by making your enrollment deposit above. If you have not yet received a decision by mail, we ask for your patience as we work towards finalizing all of our applications. The formal decision notification date is March 1.

@wewsy i think that just means that his admissions decision has been sent out
