UCONN BFA Acting Admission Process

Does anyone know anything about their admission process and when they notify? Do they wait until they have done all auditions before making any decisions? Anyone know how competitive it is? I know it is a very small class size.

We were just there today. They told us that they have already admitted some - if they know they want someone, they admit them. As for competition, they audition 80 to 100 and admit 20 to 24, yielding 10 to 14 students per class.

We were there last weekend… Was very impressed with their program! Kind of disheartening to hear they admitted people already… We did not hear anything as of yet- although they mentioned to our group that no one would hear anything until Jan. 20th…

Forgot to mention that they said they would admit some people right off the bat, then hold off on further admittances until they see everyone… Only thing I thought was odd was that the director of the program was not present at the audition… Other acting instructors were… They said they would pass along their feedback to him, and he would have final decision. Seems to me that he should be there himself to see the kids firsthand…

Do you mean Dale Rose? He was there yesterday. He was using a cane and had a foot in a cast - wonder if something related to that prevented him from being there the week before?

Not sure of his name, but that would certainly explain his absence:)

Anybody hear from UCONN? We are on pins and needles checking the mail every day! So hard to wait:)

We did get a call offering a spot, followed by an admission letter, into the BFA Acting. I think it is as you described above, that some calls come right away, but not all of them…hang tight, hope you hear soon.

That’s so great- congrats to your son or daughter!!! Very exciting and takes some pressure off for the other auditions. If you don’t mind my asking, when did they call?

This is such a challenging process, I think we all need whatever support we can find! My son auditioned on sunday 12/6, he got a call the following Sunday night-a week later, and a letter a week or 2 after that.

I agree! How many other schools did your son apply to? We are at 17-yikes!!! That was a very nice touch that UCONN made a personal phone call… We were so impressed with their program… And loved The campus! Good luck to your son on the rest of his audition journey!
