my d has been accepted to uconn honors biomedical engineering as well as WPI and RPI, all good schools but different merit aid packages leave a 10-11 k gap between uconn and WPI and a 20 k gap between uconn and rpi. her goal is med school.

any comment or opinions on the question is it worth the extra money to attend wpi or rpi over uconn honors in regard to future med school application

Unfortunately I can only comment on UConn out of those three. UConn has an excellent pre-med program, and honors classes, particularly in the sciences, are excellent.

Please let me know about success rate of UCONN pre-med students getting into medicine.
If the choices are stony brook univ and UCONN, what would you suggest? I am interested in pre-med at both schools and both schools offered 50% tuition waiver.
However, UCONN costs 10k more than SBU. Both schools are out-of-state schools for us.

Regarding which school is “better” for pre-med: all of them. The school doesn’t make a significant difference at this level. What matters is the student’s performance at the school.

If finances and aid are an issue, you’d probably be best off choosing the cheaper option(s).

My d has received scholarship plus grant at UConn which made it cheaper than SBU for us. Also UConn is closer than SBU for us. Yesterday I went to SBU accepted students reception. They have tried to sell the point that the hospital research facilities are on SBU vicinity which is true. How far is medical center in UCONN from Storr? Can the pre-med students living in Storr go to medical center and work? Is it possible? Does Uconn offer research oppotunities to under-graduate students. I appreciate your feedback.

UConn Health Center is about an hour away from the main campus in Storrs. It’s in Farmington, the other side of Hartford. There is a small local hospital near Storrs, and some larger ones in Hartford - maybe 45 minutes from Storrs.
