my d wants to go to med school. has narrowed down her selection to the above schools.
due to different merit awards uconn would be the most affordable wpi 10 k more a year and rpi 20 k more a year

major biomedical engineering
how good are rpi and wpi in getting students into med school
would it be best to go the cheapest route and save for med scholl
any comments thoughts as to best course of action
thanks

RPI has pretty good stats of students getting into med school, but you have to realize that 60% of all applicants nationwide apply to multiple (~10-20) med schools and don’t get accepted into any of them.

No one knows they want to be a doctor in high school, I don’t know if you remember the time you were in college but people’s interests change all the time. I know many people who are currently freshman and have already changed their major 3 times.

BME at rpi is very difficult when you have to take premed requirements, I am currently following this. I will end up taking at least 2 or 3 classes over the summer either here or at home. I implore your daughter not settle for a state school (despite it being uconn honors) if she wants the very best education, RPI offers much much more than wpi or UCONN in the engineering department.

If you can swing the 20K per year, RPI. RPI has a student body that is approaching Ivy League caliber and it’s Biotechnology Center offers world class research opportunities.
