UCONN housing?

Any UCONN students want to tell me what's up with housing? Which parts are the best for freshman and later on in the college experience, etc.

Also: is it better to live in the traditional dorms or live in a dorm with a special focus (like some colleges have science dorms for premed kids, engineers, etc)??

I would like to know the same thing. Seeing as no one answered you the first time, can you shed any light on this from personal experience (assuming you were a freshman this year). Thanks.

I’d like to know this too. Any current uconn freshmen on here?

Also in the orientation packet I thought I saw something about May 16th deadline for house is this really true for incoming freshmen?

Yes, it is true.

So once I fill out the housing application is that it? Do I need to pay anything before May 16?

There is a new student guide you can download and read
http://www.reslife.uconn.edu/docs/2011-2012_New_Undergrad_Guide_03-14-2011web.pdf</a>
They will not be sending it to admitted students. You need to get that in before May 16. Went to admitted student day on 4/16 and they said any apps sent in after that date goes on a wait list and not guaranteed housing.
Tuition fee bill is due Aug. 1.
Hope this helps.

The best parts for freshman are northweastern, north (somewhat good), and Buckley (honors)

At least thats what I heard.

Freshmen are normally assigned to North, Northwest and Towers.
